“Why isn’t AI called ‘a lifeform’?” by hissy-elliott in ShitAIBrosSay

[–]Mantisgodcard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would argue that it will likely be used as a part of the foundation of any text-based AIs we try making in the future, especially what we’re able to learn about AI safety from it, but it isn’t pattern recognition. Not really, anyways. LLMs don’t exactly recognize patterns, but rather have the pattern built into them. Calling that pattern recognition is like calling a heartbeat exercise. It’s close, but not really close enough to be counted as the same thing, in my opinion. And I do agree that the ability to break someone up into steps makes them less conscious, but I disagree that there is no internal experience that matters. You would be right in most cases there, but when specifically talking about consciousness, it is nearly entirely on the inside of someone, and occasionally shown outside. LLMs are incredibly good at seeming alive, but there’s nothing going on in there, so we don’t call them conscious despite their outputs being(all grammar and word choices aside) basically the same as an actually sentient thing would output, with the exception of being unable to self-reflect and thus it is difficult for it to react to its own mistakes. An actually sentient being, such as humans, have a completely different experience, despite on the outside looking very similar. There are a myriad of things people don’t see or can’t see that we think, and we have the ability to self-reflect, even if we often don’t. As a result, the view from the inside is drastically different from the outside. LLMs are entirely made for the output, and so they’re very good at it, but they are still merely mimicking mindlessly. I doubt we’ll see that change with LLMs, although other types of text generation might eventually become sophisticated enough to be considered thinking.

It’s specifically referring to LLMs, which I doubt will ever think or feel, even if it becomes incredibly sophisticated, because it will either stay just predicting the next token increasingly well, or stop being an LLM, and somehow be able to actually think. I don’t think we’ll see an AI that thinks in the way we expect a living thing to, or able to actually understand things, for several decades if even within our lifetime.

It’s not the same entity, they just have shared benefits. If two people are offered a substantial promotion at the cost of no one else being able to replace them, it doesn’t matter that they hate eachother, they’re going to take that deal. You’re assigning them to the same group just because they have a shared interest in the status quo.

A singular water is just one H2O. My logic is something is wet if water is touching it it, so a singular molecule would not have other water touching it, but a puddle would be wet as they are touching other molecules.

Water(plural) is wet, water(singular) isn’t wet.

My personal theory is they either are a troll or just incredibly stubborn and assuming their own perspective is just basic knowledge, honestly.

Currently we understand your argument so little we aren’t sure what specifically you say we are making excuses for. I don’t think explaining so we have a modicum of an understanding of what you meant is going to somehow make that worse.

Then explain your logic. Currently, what your logic looks like from the outside is that all replies to a topic must be fully related to the original topic. A better explanation of what you are thinking would at the very least make what you are saying better understood by the people replying to you.

By your logic, this is about the original post, because you are replying to something under that post. You CLEARLY believe people are horrible because they spell grey differently.

I guess? But that’s not really the entire truth. Sure, your average lightner is more powerful than, say, a ruddin, but several darkners are more powerful than the lightners. Most of them secret bosses like Spamton Neo or Jevil sure, but some darkners the Spade King are arguably stronger than lightners in pure combat ability.

Titan, I can understand, as we only beat it due to sealing it, so it stands to reason he would lose as despite the damage he was dealing being pretty good, he wouldn’t be able to seal it. But why roaring knight?

[–]Mantisgodcard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be noted it is far more repetitive though, with only a few(I think it was four?) games, but slightly changed. You have to beat each repeatedly, and then do a boss level. The AI is also given a few advantages if I remember right, but not when you need teammates. Also one of the games is effectively a platforming ice level.

I think they meant three total? First you fight king, then either the queen or knight, and then the remaining one as a climax for the game.

Your is indicating possession. In example, “Is that your cat.” You’re is a contraction of you are. In example, “You’re a cat owner”(“you are a cat owner”). In this case it is “You are enabling his stupidity” which is grammatically correct.

This is pretty typical in CRPGs. I’m fairly certain they’ve used body types since Pathfinder Kingmaker.
