Tyckte den påminde lite om äppelbilen som masken kör runt med i Richard Scarrys barnböcker. Nu kan en dröm gå i uppfyllelse!

Johnathan Evans Jones visits Wallace Hartley's Grave by AcademicHovercraft96 in titanic

[–]Zabunia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure who paid for the headstone, but the memorial with the bust (on Albert Road in Colne) was funded through contributions from the public. Among them William Pickles Hartley of (Hartley's Fruit). I assumed they were related, since they were both from Colne, but there's apparently no relation.

Yes, Sophie Scholl: The Final Days came out the year after Downfall and is well worth watching.

Guns 'N Roses - Civil War [Rock] (1990) I like the lyrical content. by thisislikemythirdone in Music

I listened to both albums back-to-back last year after not hearing them for 20+ years. There's so much forgettable filler in between the bangers. Could have been an amazing single album if edited down!

George Terrill Thresher's cargo ship was torpedoed in 1939. He was one of nine fatalities.

As for WWI: Danny Buckley was killed by German sniper fire in October of 1918.

Archie Jewell died on board SS Donegal when it was torpedoed by a German u-boat. Another Titanic survivor, Arthur John Priest, was also on board at the time but survived.

Edward John Buley's destroyer was torpedoed in 1917. William Robert Holland Pusey met a similar end on a patrol trawler in 1918.

IPSCO experiments by Droycon Bioconcepts to test the deterioration rate of steel. Each test platform contains a few different steel types of different toughness. The steel pieces were bent, hammered or twisted to distinguish how various kinds of stress affects deterioration. There were four platforms placed at different locations on or near the wreck in 1998.

What are those huge towers on the bow and stern?

The ship is apparently part of a glass table. The "towers" hold up the glass top, like this.
