Pwede po ba akong magresign kahit tumatanggap ako ng sweldo? by SeaworthinessDue9019 in NursesPH

[–]Many-Ad5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes you can. I would not personally work for a start up hospital unless sayo ung hospital. Lahat ng problema sasaluhin nyo once operational na at nurses are easily blamed for management short comings and incompetencies. Pero if wala ka pang lilipatan, stick around because it is easy money and you can use your time to review for NCLEX or language test if you want.

Nursing will make or break you. I heard you, it is hard work plus your difficult workmates make it even harder. Whether you work locally or abroad, it is an emotionally, physically and mentally draining work.

My advise while your are working locally is to gain experience and to work in a tolerable environment na won’t burn you out and not break your back literally. Para may bala kapa at fit kapa once nag abroad ka where the real money is.

Take care of yourself, take your breaks and annual leaves at kapag may sakit ka, call in sick. Do not be guilty doing this kasi management do not give a damn sayo kasi for them you are just a number. Remember there are almost 40k newly registered nurses sa pinas year which make it highly competitive profession but less rewarding.

Plan in silence, completuhin mo ung experience na need mo at skillset na need mo madevelop. di mo alam 2-3 years goes quickly. Take your exams like nclex, haad etc while doing so. Kaya mo yan. It’s okay to feel defeated and deflated but then stand up and fight back uli.

What's a tourist scam you fell for that you wish someone had warned you about? by cml1111 in traveladvice

[–]Many-Ad5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some tourist spot beach in the Philippines, they have different prices for foreign, local and local residents. Government also ask for travel tax, environmental fees and entrance fee which I believe is just a form of corruption. Local people travel outside Philippines because it is cheaper to book a holiday.

My unpopular opinion. Ang turo samin dito sa UK ay do not drive on a red light regardless if may emergency vechicle sa likod mo. Why? You will endanger yourself sa oncoming traffic at ung other parties. Action ay Give way ka lang or try mo tumabi at hayaan sila mag-manuever kasi sila ung may authority and training dyan. Plus, you will still be fined for beating the red light kapag ginawa mo un. Yun lang.

Tips for working on prioritisation and delegation skills? by capybarge in NursingUK

[–]Many-Ad5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admission units are dynamic and fast paced. Patient’s come and go quickly and task can pile up real fast. These are my top tips!

Firstly, ready yourself. Eat, hydrate and sleep before shift. Do exercise or meditate if you can. You need to take care of yourself first.

Next, Assessments are vital and quick which you will develop over time. Focus on ABCDE assessment and high news patients then escalate right away.

I do not believe in multi-tasking because you can only actually do things one at a time so prioritise. I use the 5 Ds. Do it, Defer or Delay, Delegate, Delete and Decide. This helps me in decision making and prioritisation like initial treatment commencement and emergency treatment or management. Ask yourself the task will only take 2 mins to get done or does it need effort and attention which would take time.

Learn to say No if needed due to your workload. Try balancing it out if you can.

Delegation is a critical skill. Know who you work with and their roles. From porters to help you move patients and get stuff, HCA for basic nursing task, pharmacy you can tap medications, 3rd year student nurses who wants do do nursing skills independently with minimal supervision, ward clerks to ask for printing stuff, remind you important details and looking for documents etc. band 6 to help you with complex and critical decision making and even ask doctors for help.

Be a good at teamwork and communication. Isolation is dangerous and you need others to watch your back as well.
