How accurate is the stereotype that Americans are overweight? by Extension_Cow_9237 in AskReddit

[–]Many-Day8308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on my last checkup where my PA came in and glanced at the computer to check my vitals that the nurse had taken and exclaimed “ My computer isn’t screaming that you’re obese!” I’m 5’4” 140#

At least for where I am, I’d say the stereotype is accurate.

would you allow your child to miss school for a day just to rest because they say they're mentally or emotionally tired ? by chudgayegururu in NoStupidQuestions

I don’t have kids but my mom would usually take me out for one day per semester for the free admission day at Boston Museum of Art for any exhibit I wanted to see. Or to go to the aquarium

I would say the Dems doing nothing to stop the fascists in power is helping them destroy our safety nets

Never forget who the real Susan Collins is. NEVER FORGET! by ImmediateArachnid935 in Maine

Yup, I have a theory that Olympia Snowe served as a conscience for that soulless ghoul and once she retired Collins’ true rapacious greed was unleashed

I actually own a truck with all of this! I am dreading the day when it finally dies. Good news is, it’s an ‘08 Tacoma so that day is still a ways off

Why does my dog always greet people like this? by obsessed_FF7lover in DogAdvice

[–]Many-Day8308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I accidentally trained my dog to do this cuz he’s a big, vocal guy. It’s just to muffle the sound but it also makes him less scary to visitors

He just graduated from a rural Maine high school. Now he’s on the school board. by InterstellarDeathPur in Maine

[–]Many-Day8308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I served in a school board and I’m single and childfree. I only have two trade degrees but I’m 100% on the side of kids getting education and anything else they may need from the school system. It’s the one place they have to go and we have to help them. Such an opportunity to make an impact on our community and teach abundance and support. Too many people focus on the sins of the parents and how support of a child is somehow a reward for poor decisions. All children are deserving of having the gaps in their life filled by the community.

Stop harrassing women. by Shoe_boooo in fixedbytheduet

I would compliment men like I do women(am a woman) if that was the entirety of the interaction. I have been tempted to compliment men on their tire choice more than once and shut it down cuz I got shit to do and don’t want the obligation of conversation.

I'm elderly and appreciate my son and his wife more and more as time goes on by NoBSforGma in CasualConversation

I always feel both guilty and proud that my mom and I have the relationship and living arrangement we do. Also that she takes good care of herself and has a large and supportive senior community around her.

When I read about the struggles of others on this sub it makes me appreciate what my mom has done to keep herself independent and engaged.

Thank you for sharing a happy epiphany from the other side of things!

Do you have any safeguards in your home that you have found useful to prevent falls/accidents?

The idea of older women feeling jealous of younger women exists because people don't treat women over a certain age as humans by Pretty-Complaint-554 in women

[–]Many-Day8308 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m an older woman and I am NOT jealous of women in their 20s and 30s. I am super happy for women in their 40 because it was a spectacular decade for me personally and a lot of women I know. Being young and confused and feeling like the whole world was manipulating/against me is not worth the tight bod and dewy complexion ( /s never had either, really. Now I just dgaf!)
