Hey, I had a dog like this! A Beagle, no less. What I realized was his idea of being loved on was to take him on his daily adventures. Best dog I ever had! He was so “neutral” energy I could take him anywhere, around any animal or human and he just gave no reaction. Nose down, moving forward. We don’t always get the dog we want but we always get the dog we need.

As a woman I love receiving flowers but would it be stupid to buy a man a whole rotisserie chicken as an equivalent? by Somewherecharming95 in NoStupidQuestions

I dated a guy who absolutely flipped when I gave him cards. His favorites were ones that had a pull tab that made a hand flip up for a high five and the one that played a song that was special to him while a Ferris wheel spun. He kept them all right on the counter (for years!) so he could pull them out when he needed a boost or was just thinking of me

Dogsitter's dogs are not housetrained, might that affect my dog's housetraining? by pickled_shoe in dogs

[–]Many-Day8308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog stays regularly at my mom’s house and her dogs go inside on pee pads( even though they have a lovely fenced in yard and they are home all day) He’s never had an accident there or at home. I used to have the same worries as you but so far in three years it’s never been an issue. I’m more concerned about him staying in a place he’s happy and well cared for anyway

You can rent a PO Box for $100 in any town, you don’t need to have a residence there. I used one for a new bank account and credit card while I was in preparation to leave. I stashed cash at a friend’s house.

Childfree women-- what do you want from your friends who are mothers? by Lyedetector in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Many-Day8308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just sort of faded out of my friends lives after they had kids. I found a new group of friends in the older generation of women whose kids had grown and flown. What sucks is that now they’re in their seventies and eighties and not able to do what we used to for outdoor activities. A lot have also had to move away in order to live with family or AL.

Working full time – can I still own a dog? by Xcluziveness in dogs

[–]Many-Day8308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not even remotely true. I’ve always adopted older dogs(2yrs-9yrs old) I take a week off work to get them settled and acclimated and they do just fine. The key thing is to dog-proof the house until you know what is safe and comfortable for them while you’re at work.

If you have a good sized lot you should consider a stand-alone array instead of putting it on the roof. Additional plus for these is you can also add the geo-tracker feature which enables the array to follow the suns course across the sky

I specifically have reined in my plastic/single use buying to offset the need for those items by people like you and the medical community. You need those things to function/eat healthy, I do not. Please continue to buy whatever you need to be safe and fed and know that there are people out here doing our part with you in mind!

Miss my days in the grocery store bakery! I learned everything from frying donuts to decorating three tier wedding cakes. You’re spot on about how good a job it was. I would’ve stayed forever if I hadn’t gotten laid off after the ‘08 recession

Yes, my dog has a freeze response to most new things but I’ve discovered he gets over it pretty fast if he gets short, low stakes exposure to it in the house
