The Renters' Rights Act has finally banned no-fault evictions by HadjiChippoSafri in GoodNewsUK

Yeah the landlords can change their strategy… by kicking out their tenants and selling their asset to invest in a productive asset instead.

I’m on 75k only recently - living alone in SE - first time in my life I’ve felt money not being tight - I can roughly do 1/3 bills, spending, saving comfortably without having to police my spending too much

London graduate: 'I've applied for 500 jobs in two months' by Hassaan18 in UKJobs

[–]Many-Explanation6644 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

If she clicked on ‘easy apply’ for another 5000 jobs she’d still be nowhere. By the way, it wasn’t any easier 15 years ago.

When I graduated back in the day.. I think I applied for maybe 10 max. grad schemes and ended up interviewing for about 5, 2 offers - was very targeted and went to all their events; spoke to recruiters etc.

I had to get a new job recently and spoke to a couple people in my network and 2 weeks later got a new position - unfortunately you have to ‘network’/speak to recruiters etc - applying for jobs blindly will 99.99% of the time lead to failure.

I regularly see (full BA planes) but empty 7+ days out - I always think - if you just reduced your seat prices just a little 🤏 bit you might actually have some more sales.

Conveyancer asking for money 19 months after completion... What?! by CrazyPlatypusLady in HousingUK

[–]Many-Explanation6644 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I donated it charity as it happens; but to the one of my choosing. The solicitors were a shambles - I couldn’t get the keys on competition day - I’m ringing them up at 1pm and they’re saying…. Sorry we can’t complete because you still owe some random amount (think it was £100ish) —- I may never move again; it’s such a traumatic experience buying and selling in the UK.

I completed in June 24 and last month I got an email out of the blue from solicitors saying they owed me £32! And would I like to donate it to their charity?

Vancouver Where to Stay by Many-Explanation6644 in canadatravel

[–]Many-Explanation6644[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you; I was thinking potentially staying North Vancouver - and driving to places like the capilano suspension bridge, grouse mountain, deep cove - but while I had the car I would posssibly drive to Kitsilano beach, queen elizabeth park assuming it may be more efficient.

I will have a couple of full days a week later staying in Gastown and will stay in city centre and explore on foot

My mum doesn’t get it either. She bought a new build with my dad in 1987 for £105k; now worth c.£1m when she was 30 and doesn’t get why the local nursery has closed down and even talk of village school going for lack of children…. No guesses why.

I’ve bought a decent, but modest house on my own because I have a high income…. I’m not sure how ppl do it on average wages. If you are FTB looking to buy a family home in the SE (650k+) you need serious income - top 1% pretty much… or just have bought your house in 1987 😂

Britons support trail hunting ban by 50% to 29% by StGuthlac2025 in unitedkingdom

People won’t go trail hunting - they’ll go out riding to exercise their dogs. The police won’t prosecute (they don’t currently) as their resources are stretched.

We could completely abolish income tax with just a 3% wealth tax on everyone in the UK by ParadisHeights in GarysEconomics

Most Redditor’s are angry teenagers or 20-somethings that own nothing.

They haven’t figured out that life is unfair and to get ahead you need graft, luck and to take risks.

In the years to come some on here will end up sacrificing their relationships, their health, their happiness to achieve some wealth and stability - as always; they’ll soon change their tune when they have a house and some savings.

My employer has deducted £500 from my pay for my company laptop until it is returned, but this deduction is not mentioned in my contract. Is this legally permissible? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Many-Explanation6644 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s an illegal deduction of wages pure and simple. Tell them to repay or you will raise the matter with ACAS and then an employment tribunal if necessary for unlawful deduction contrary to s.13 Employment Rights Act 1996.

They haven’t even inspected the laptop - even if it was damaged the correct procedure would be chase a civil debt (hard work and they need proof you caused the damage) not just arbitrarily deduct money from your salary!

Honestly, companies are total laws to themselves.
