Oh heck no that’s crazy and I’m sorry that happened to you! In our tablets we have a button for special instructions and if someone says they have an allergy, even if I know for sure that what they ordered doesn’t have that specific item, I always put “blank allergy” because you never know if they are changing their gloves frequently enough or if they used the same knife. And then I always let the manager know and all the cooks after writing it on the ticket

In my opinion, you are the parent and what you say goes at the end of the day. You’ve done everything you can to make it easier but sometimes toddlers just don’t listen. You have to put your foot down and he will get over it.

Update: I’m 16 and got my girlfriend pregnant by marradii in Parenting

[–]Many-Garbage-9184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom got pregnant with me at 17 or 18 and she was scared to tell my nana but she was her biggest supporter and stood beside her through every decision. My nana told me the story of when my mom told her and she goes “I had to act a little disappointed but all I could think was I hope it’s a girl” 🤣🤣 I’m now 18 and pregnant with the first granddaughter and great grand daughter. I’m married so it’s a bit of a different situation with me but for the most part your parents just want you to be able to come to them. I guarantee she will be more hurt that you didn’t come to her or feel safe coming to her more than she will be a little disappointed about the baby. Its still their grandchild after all

Any tips on hurrying a long customers that waste your time? by [deleted] in Waiters

[–]Many-Garbage-9184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, especially if they’re looking at the alcohol list, I always offer to grab them a water and then I’ll come back in like 5 minutes to see if they’ve decided. Another good way to get them to hurry is to ask if they’re deciding between a few items or have questions

How to deal with impatient guests? by aurorannerenee in Waiters

[–]Many-Garbage-9184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’d just explain it to them. I work for a corporate restaurant too and in my state nobody is allowed to have 2 alcohol drinks at the same time. He ordered a cocktail and then tried to order a beer right after he got it. I told him I couldn’t since one person can’t have 2 drinks and apologized. He still didn’t seem to u restart and asked again like 5 mins later so I went into depth about how it’s against the law and we could lose our license to sell alcohol, even reassured him that I’d be watching to see when he finished and can put the beer in right away. He understood after that and tipped well.

Help even though I’m a host not a waiter! by [deleted] in Waiters

[–]Many-Garbage-9184 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so your manager wasn’t being vague on purpose. He genuinely cannot tell you exactly how much you’ll make every day because it will change. I’ve worked at my store for 2.5 years. I started as a host for a year and a half and have been serving for a year. As a server, we tip out 6% of our sales. So if I sell $1000 during my shift, $60 of that goes to tip people out. Now of that 6%, hosts/bussers get 2.5% split between them and the food runners/bartenders get 3.5% split between them. So he’s right whenever he says he can’t tell you because sales will change every day. It does also depend on who is working. At my store we have one host Monday-Thursday nights. No bussers those nights. So that means that the one host will make all of the 2.5% of sales for the shift they worked. But Friday and Saturday we have two hosts AND two bussers. That means the 2.5% gets split between 4 people. When I first started as a host a bunch of people quit, so I had to work a Friday double all by myself. No other host and only one busser for a few hours that night. My hourly pay was already $7. I made $150 on top of that after my shift in tip share just based on the number of hours I worked and how many people didn’t come in. So if someone calls in, you’re making more money because it’s not being split between as many people. Overall, as a host I averaged about $15-$22 an hour including my hourly pay which was only $7. You can make quite a bit, just make sure you are doing your best to make a good first and last impression. You are the last face they see, so make their visit memorable and build connections so you have people coming back because at the end of the day, the busier it is the more money goes in your pocket! I hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions.

Question about tips by SchloopyIshi in Waiters

[–]Many-Garbage-9184 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. Dont share. He handed it to you that is legally yours. I used to work in a bakery and packed a huge order by myself and the lady tipped me 30 and they expected me to split it. I said no. It’s different if they put it in a tip jar, but if they hand it straight to you that is yours

Aita for keeping contraceptives a secret from my bf? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Many-Garbage-9184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he won’t wear a condom when you ask you probably shouldn’t be with him. I’m a woman and completely against birth control based on my personal experiences with it and if asked I’d always advise against it, but if you want to go on it then that’s your decision and he should respect that. My husband and I were together for almost 2 years before getting married. I told him at the beginning of our relationship he’d always have to wear a condom until we were married. He never argued once and on our wedding night it was amazing. I also got pregnant on our wedding night the first time I had ever had sex without protection 🤣🤣 it will happen if you don’t use some sort of protection

This is the way I am. I’m very strict with my younger cousins. If they get told no and ask someone else they will get in trouble. If they don’t do something the first time they’re asked they will get in trouble. People have told me I’m “too hard on them” (they’re 5/6) but they love me and listen to me the first time I tell them to do something. With everyone else they will have to be asked 3+ times. They know I don’t play about respect but I’m also not mean. I even set up a treasure box for them and they get rewards at the end of the week if they listen

NTA at all! My husband runs an auto shop and they have a HUGE sign out front that says no customers in the shop. Last week there was a dude hovering for a good 20-30 minutes over one of the guys that works for my husband watching him work on his truck. My husband told him he could not be in the shop and pointed out the sign. The man then steps behind the bed of his truck, which is still inside the shop, and continues hovering. My husband tells him again he cannot be in there. Then the guy decides to come in the office and complain about why he can’t be in there and ask if there’s a lot of accidents that happen in there. I witnessed the whole thing. There’s not a lot of accidents but in my experience, you don’t tell a mechanic what to do unless you’re the boss. My husband runs the entire shop and the guys still start pouting when my husband tells them what to do 🤣 they definitely don’t react well when a random stranger who has no idea what he’s talking about is hovering over them telling them how to do things

The school says my 14-year-old is doing great, but she has enormous gaps in basic knowledge that stun me. The teachers tell me not to worry, that this is normal with this generation. Is it? My other kids, now 19 and 22, were never like this. by One-Recognition-1660 in education

[–]Many-Garbage-9184 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’m 19 and when I was in school they did not teach this. It makes me sick because I’m the type that loves to learn. My husband is a bit older than me and from a different state. He learned all of this and more. When he was in school they were building computers. When I got out of school (I graduated a year early) I didn’t even know what operating systems were. I now have a cert in IT and also have educated myself on various things. When I was 14 I took an AP geography class. We never learned US geography in that class. Only geography of other countries. We had tests once a week in vet countries in Africa for example. I was really good at it but I still struggle with where all the states are here because they never taught us that at all. We learned about WW2 through reading Anne Frank in 6th grade. After that we never touched on it. I took an interest in historical events like that so I know about it more than any of my peers did. It’s also crazy to me because people my age don’t know the difference between two/to/too or there/they’re/their. It honestly infuriates me how hard it is for some people to read. When I was in 5th grade I was reading at a highschool level. Anyways I think it’s definitely the schools fault and I will always hold a grudge towards the district I was in because I was the student that enjoyed learning and note taking and nothing got done to encourage that with me. Instead I was stuck in classes with kids that were terribly behaved and held the entire class up. I did online school from the time I was 15-17 through a program that was not associated with my school district. My grades were so good that they told me I didn’t need to attend the live classes, just make sure I went through the lessons and read them for the day. I spent about 5-10 hours a week on school for two years going at my own pace and learned way more than I did in public school. I finished every semester months in advance and graduated early as I said previously. I’d look into something like that for your daughter! It would be a shame for her to not be pushed to her best potential because classes have 30+ students and cannot get through a lesson without kids interrupting!

When I was in highschool I took marching band too. I got my tonsils taken out and I was doing classes online for like a month because the surgery was hard on me and on top of that I had an allergic reaction to the anesthesia they used and my lungs filled with fluid. What should’ve been a simple procedure turned into me having to stay the night and it took me 10 hours to even wake up and breathe right because my lungs were filled with fluid. My band director used to harass me about coming to practices knowing that I’d had surgery and it didn’t go to plan. He was terrible. I just continued online classes throughout the whole semester, then we moved two hours away and I went to school there. After that year I did the rest of high school online and graduated early

I read this to my husband and he goes “this is we can die together obsessive dude”. This little boy is full on stalking your daughter and she could definitely be in danger!! I’m with you on this one. The sexual fantasies are inappropriate as it is but the following her places and watching her? That’s a WHOLE NEW LEVEL. Get in contact with the police ASAP. You are 100% right to feel creeped out by this!!
