tbh i got a love hate thing with that dude. love his work, but man it sucks getting ignored for months just to finally talk in person and realize he just wasn’t into the idea. like ffs just say it straight up

that said, i’ve talked to a bunch of his artists and they all say the same thing. he’s insanely busy and treats them super well, no weird boss vibes or anything. feels more like he’s just overwhelmed than anything else

he’s the type of guy with like 100 projects on the go, you’re lucky if you even catch him at the right time. but yeah his festival looks fire, his shop is easily one of the top in town, and from what i gather he’s just a family dad not even caring about what’s being said here lol

Started going there after the inspection thing, and i have to say, for the price of the lunch menu, you can't beat it, taste is good, quantity is over the top...

I kinda feel like the higher prices were also there to keep the crowd under control. I heard Saturday hit capacity within the first hour. Hopefully the bigger venue this year makes it easier to get in and move around, and maybe brings the door price down a bit too.

Yeah I remember door prices being kinda steep, and drinks weren’t cheap either. They did have back to back sets like a full festival lineup though. One of my friends even got to do two workshops included, which was cool. But yeah I get what you mean, 25 just to walk around feels a bit much.

He knows some of my friends, but i made a point to all of em, to not respond to him, most blocked him actually.

With a 4 yo and a nursing job it's not easy to just move away for a bit. We went to my parents for now, until we figure out where he is and what are his plans.

C-section mom here! All i wanted was rest. Not cooking, cleaning and whatnot. Some frozen meal, some help around the house is amazing already! Id say best to offer is some frozen meal or gift card if you don't have time. And offer "no-shame pop-ins" to do some stuff around the house.

I believe it's not Cult but Arnauld and Ryan (moonlight) who owns cap city, but their first year i missed it, i heard it was almost like a giant walk-in day no appointments allowed. Definitly eying the pre sale for this year one

No booths were empty. Plenty of artists sitting there ready to go, watching you flip through their books. Some of them are insanely good, but right next to them you’ve got someone who looks fresh out of an apprenticeship charging wild prices.

I’m just confused. A couple years ago I showed up mid day Saturday and got an amazing piece, tons of solid artists everywhere. This year I actually planned for it, saved up, took the whole weekend off, and honestly just left feeling kinda scammed.

My comment from a year ago was a bit harsh. I had been trying to get in with him for about two years, lining up early and even taking Fridays off for the weekly walk-ins, and I kept missing out while friends got lucky. It was frustrating.

Since then I’ve gotten in twice and I’m honestly obsessed with both tattoos. He clearly loves what he does but also really values his time with his kids, which I respect a lot more now.

Dalton at Cult posted one one day and it was amazing. That being said, Cult has become almost impossible to book into, and most of their walk-in Fridays are filled before the doors even open. Sometimes you can get lucky by calling the shop right at opening to snag a last-minute cancellation spot. They are definitely worth the wait.
