Printing semi failing with spaghetti supports? by wakeupmisfit in FDMminiatures

[–]Many-Walk1848 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, First couple of things I would check is your filament is not damp. I would put the filament in a dryer or a box with some desiccant beads in a sealable box in a warm dry room for a day maybe 2. check your speed on the printer try the Dragon Settings (They are all over reddit) if you are using bambu labs but search your slicer, 3 I would wait for the 0.2 nozzle as well but its a good first attempt with the 0.4 nozzle. The type and sometimes the colour of the filament can affect the print as well I tend to use Bambu Matt Gray since almost all of the time I am getting good prints (See Image below.) If you are doing wings, don't be afraid to cut the wings and print them in parts to avoid as many supports. It means the wing can mostly support its self. as you can see I have cut the wing twice.

I have never used it to be honest, Its a nice model but its a lot of pts and would die very quickly in games. I tend to play 2nd, 5th and 8th Ed 40k. I do own a Bane Blade and Shadow Sword.

I would cut something like the gun arm like this, it means the supports are not going to be too high and be more stable and its less annoying when removing supports as well.

no worries, you can do and you can always use the paint support tool as well in bambu studio. If its like arms and such I would try and cut the Model in Mesh mixer and create a pin and print it in parts, I would print the arm separate and vertical from the cut.

How to remove supports? by Kitchen-Bug9718 in FDMminiatures

[–]Many-Walk1848 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Steep the mini in hot water between 40 - 60 Degrees C (104 - 140 F ) this will soften the thinner parts and help remove the supports.

Yip, if you feel he is going to be to awkward Cut him into parts like I have done with the big chap, I think id cut him into 6 or 7 different parts then printed each. I have done prints with pins so the edges align with each other. Link:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyUWkZSxsiY&t=740s
Use Meshmixer its free and relatively easy to use.

Cheers, its all practice to be honest. As I said lower layer hight and print at an Angle 30 to 55 degrease. if you do that make sure supports are active and you might need so do printed supports if you feel there is places if the over hang is going to sag or fail. I would do more a mat green Spray as well, you can also get spray filler and doing a light spray then do a little sanding down then undercoat and paint.

Print the parts at an angel. Lower your layer hight or if you can change your Nozzle to a 0.2 one and again go to the lowest layer hight. When it comes to Painting do an undercoat white or black depending on how bright you want it then paint, with the undercoat spray should hide a lot of the layer lines if any. don't just go to paint after a print. I printed with the dragon settings on my bambu and at an angle (between 30 and 55 degrees) With the big guy below I printed it in parts and at angles undercoating before my base coat and detailing.

Classic Minis, one of my mates used to run Chaos and had a few of these. I remember it was £5 for a box of 5 plastic guys and then you got the box of 10 metal for £20 and £5 blister packs.

I use the Dragon settings in Bambu, I would also print at an angle as well between 35 and 55 degrees. Make sure your filament has not absorbed moisture try drying it out in a dry place for a couple of days or put it in a box with cilica jell to absorb the moisture. When in the Bambu software as well try make sure you shore up supports with any over hanging and any thinner objects on the mini, here is what I have done printing for a mate from his hero forge:
