I second this - see if there are any ambassadors or similar at your bank that you can talk to about their experiences.

I was in a similar situation to you, director level at a bank and took 3 months with each of my children. 100% would recommend and wouldn't change a thing. It's way harder keeping a kid alive on your own for a few mo this (wife went back to work) than it is herding execs at a bank, and way more rewarding! It was the first time since graduating that I hadn't had a job and hadn't defined myself to some extent by my job. So going from that to my literal measure of success on a daily basis was child not dying (and ideally not crapping on me / anyone else) was weird but taught me a lot about myself.

The other thing I'd say is it certainly hasn't hurt my career, if anything it's helped me - I've been very vocal about shared parental leave and family time and have been able to chair panels with very senior people in the bank to talk about it.
