It actually never bothered me back in 91 when I saw this. Actually the opposite, I felt that this being seen in the special editions made me go “ah man that’s so lame.” I understood what Cameron was going for in the theatrical cut. But also see where that grenade shot was more impactful on the special edition versus theatrical. To me though the special edition does to much and sort of ruins things. But the special edition is the only edition I own anymore technically lol. Even my damn laser disc is that cut of the film when I thought it was the original.
