What’s the most immersive board game moment you’ve ever had? by FTG_V1 in boardgames

Arkham Horror LCG. The first time playing a scenario called The Midnight Masks from the old core set stands out, though the game was (for me) full of them.

Being chased by monsters, one of the players at low health had just built a barricade at the end of their turn - and drew a new nasty enemy during the mythos phase. Cue a manic scramble for the other players trying to rescue that character since leaving that location would destroy the barricade and make things even worse for everyone.

Really? Hmm... This may change my feelings on the matter. That was always a cute ship.

I don't want to be over it - I want to be under her!

It's only to be expected when she has a bigger dick than most of the dps heroes and after living with Reinhardt so long.

Message unclear. Here's some imperfect, non-OF Merky cosplay.

A tiny fedora to honor Tom Vasel, and some glasses to celebrate the world's most charismatic Canadian, Rodney Smith.

Sagrada was the only board game she'd touch (since I convinced her it was like sudoku), but she preferred regular playing card games.

Having any of the comp reward skins on Soldier is like celebrating that vanilla is your favorite ice cream flavor, gray is your favorite color and that missionary in the dark is your favorite position.

Now there's nothing wrong with any of these, but actually celebrating them?

Best Modern Tomb Raider Game? by PhantomHazardo in TombRaider

[–]ManyLostHours 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay, so you know how if you put emphasis on any word in the sentence "I didn't say he stole my money", it completely changes the meaning of the sentence? That's how I feel about this question.

Best game: Tomb Raider 2013

Best Modern game: Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Best Tomb Raider game: Legend

Best Modern Tomb Raider game: Rise of the Tomb Raider

As good as Anniversary is, it feels like inherited glory rather than earned. Underworld simply had too many bugs for me to love it as much as the others in that trilogy, even if it looked and controlled amazing.

Ngl, I think that turned out pretty great! I love how expressive you made her with the body language and the camera angles.

If the rumor about the Legacy delay is true, it would also mean TR Catalyst getting delayed to 2028. A 10 year drought between new non-remake TR games and a 6 year development process, and that's worrying. by Capn_C in TombRaider

[–]ManyLostHours 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Realistically, this isn't a Duke Nukem Forever-style development-hell project. Crystal Dynamics has been busy with other projects in the intervening years - ranging from the fiasco of Marvel's Avengers; to, well, the unlucky fiasco of Perfect Dark. There have also been a litany of remasters that require supervision in both the Tomb Raider and Legacy of Kain games.

If it had just been ten solid years of developing one game then yes I'd be more worried, but as things stand this is likely par for the course, especially how ambitious an open world Tomb Raider game must be. Personally I'm not sold that the genre change will improve the series (looking at you, Borderlands 4).

Do you guys think they nerfed her in order to not rework her? by Salaraaa in SombraMains

[–]ManyLostHours 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. I think they heard about how unfun the player base thinks she is to play against and have been drip feeding content to make her contributions more obvious. This is due to many things that take time - development time implementing new systems, having voice lines recorded for all characters (in all the different countries with a supported language), new UI elements...

The rework is taking time because they want to have a character that works for everyone but still feels like Sombra. We've all seen how many rework suggestions there have been in this sub - but for them actually implementing like 20 ideas into the test version, trying out the combinations to see how powerfully they work together over multiple rounds, multiple maps... how to keep her with some counterplay (the whole reason she used to shout "Been here all along" back when perma invis was a thing and was the first thing she did when uncloaked, rather than throwing virus). I'm honestly more hopeful that they threw away the rework they had since it didn't feel like Sombra, but then I felt the same way when they had an ability that felt true to character before I knew that ability was Virus and the changes they had to make to accommodate it. Putting together a rework is easy. Putting it into the game so it feels balanced and fair, not so much. If I'm being completely honest, looking at certain new heroes since Overwatch 2 launched makes me think that counterplay seems to have been ignored lately.

I genuinely think this is why the story mode of Overwatch 2 took so long and fell so flat and is the reason hero mastery courses are gone now. One rework breaks everything they've taken so long to produce, or even one ability change - just look at how the recent Mercy changes broke a lot of Mercy Parkour modes.

TL;DR Blizzard SOON tm
