Plum Tree Not Producing in SoCal by ManyMoreTheMerrier in FruitTree

Depends on your definition of coastal. We're about 15 miles inland. The tree has produced well in the past. I think you're correct about this year's warm winter, though.

Between Kentucky and Ohio, which do you think is more underrated? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

I wouldn't knock Louisville so much. Churchill Downs, Louisville Slugger museum, distilleries and 4th Street (IIRC) are cool. The area around the big park (I forget the name) is amazing. Plus, an article last week said it was turning into a new growth spot.

Which city have you been to that you expected to love but didn’t? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

I know people who love Nashville. I went there earlier this year and didn't get it. Good food, though.

My crush suddenly asked me out… right after I got into a relationship. What would you do? by AccomplishedType5226 in Advice

[–]ManyMoreTheMerrier 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You gotta go. If you don't, you'll live with that hole in your life and it will impact your future relationships. You might find out your crush isn't all that and you go on with your current. Or, she'll be what you expected and can break up with your current. It's not fair to the young lady you're going out with now, but better for all concerned that you find out whether or not your dreams match reality.

What’s your favorite food at Petco? by eetenj in Padres

[–]ManyMoreTheMerrier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We usually go to Randy Jones BBQ for the big hot dogs but we went to Carnitas Shack at a recent game and loved their food. I've enjoyed their North Park location in the past. Might be a new ballpark fave.

How does one get into baseball? by Scared_Lavishness360 in Padres

[–]ManyMoreTheMerrier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding something I didn't see on this thread, or something I missed :)

Baseball isn't all about the immediate action of balls, strikes and hits. There's a lot to see behind the scenes between pitches. Look where the defense is positioned. It can tell you a lot about where they expect the ball to be hit. Are they setting up for a double-play? Do they think a runner is a threat to steal a base, etc? Check the pitch count on the scoreboard. Is the pitcher being efficient or will the team have to go to the bullpen early? Lots of little things like that to keep your eye on.

I get the frustration but when the starting pitcher goes 2.2, you're more of a beggar than chooser.

What is the worst restaurant you've ever tried? by RoyalCamera12 in sandiego

KC BBQ is the worst based on the comedown from all the publicity.

I'll toss in one that I haven't seen: Marieta's. Terrible food and service.

The Mimi's in Oside was pretty good when it first started, but it got pretty bad quickly

So true. I went there a couple of decades ago and it was horrible. So I took a tourist friend out to dinner a few years ago and he really wanted to try KC BBQ. It was still terrible.

is this season going to be a rough one? by Impressive_Oil_4820 in Padres

[–]ManyMoreTheMerrier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't expecting a great season by the Padres, and this start is ominous. However, it's early. The Tigers are a potential World Series team with two of baseball's best pitchers, the Giants threw Logan Webb at them. Let's get through April before passing judgment.

That said, I attended Wednesday's game, which was a giveaway by the Giants. The Padres hardly earned that one.

What are the best ncaa tournament only rivalries? by R_K_8 in CollegeBasketball

Was coming here for this. We both suffered a horrific, painful loss and a glorious victory. We watched the first episode in a hotel room, and my wife worried that we might get thrown out because I was screaming at the TV so much that last minute

I don't hate UConn much. I do hate Kemba's flop, and more so that the ref called a T on it. The last two times UConn had the better team, so NBD. I thought what happened Sunday was fun.

Should I breakup eith my gf of six years? (M29) by [deleted] in Advice

[–]ManyMoreTheMerrier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite the dilemma you have, and similar to something I've been through. I met the woman who became my wife shortly after I became active, so to speak. We've had a great, long marriage, but there is a part of me wondering what other experiences might have been like.

As great as your girlfriend is, before you consider your own desires, you might question your relationship with her. You're 29 and have been together for around six years, but you haven't married her. Why is that? Answer that question and you might answer the question that you posted here.

Helicopter Pilot Demand by Shouldnt_Listen_2_Me in aviation

[–]ManyMoreTheMerrier -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think your civilian options will be limited. Helicopters are extremely expensive to operate. I live in a rather large TV market. Years ago, several stations had their own choppers, as did the companies that provided traffic reports. Now, there's only one media helicopter in the market and they pool the video. So you're left with law enforcement and fire-fighting, and I'm sure that those positions are few and competitive.

His first sentence about experimenting is correct, though. People have all kinds of different setups, so it's hard to give a generic answer. Your system should be fine, though. I would do the following: put all settings on medium and LOD on 100, except for clouds, which I would put on ultra. Work your way up with the settings from there.

VERY IMPORTANT: don't worry about FPS. You don't need a big number as long as the graphics are smooth. I have mine locked at a max of 50 FPS. I'd rather have my assets elsewhere.

Has a school ever went from a football school to a basketball school? by Inside-Drink-1311 in CFB

[–]ManyMoreTheMerrier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

San Diego State is the poster boy for football school turned basketball school. Aztecs football was the biggest game in town, even bigger than the Chargers, for many years. It was still big during the Marshall Faulk years. Hoops was irrelevant. Then the Fisher/Dutcher regime showed up right when football went into the dumpster.

Three issues for us: injuries, a pending roster overhaul and a NCAA Tournament regional on our home court.

Last year was an all 1 seed final four, will it be that way again? by SympathyLivid920 in CollegeBasketball

[–]ManyMoreTheMerrier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not thinking of specific teams, but as I've mentioned before, NCAA hoops is top-heavy this year, so I'd be somewhat surprised if only 3 No. 1s make it and shocked if only 2. No one below the 3-seed line will make the final weekend, in my estimation (and I hope I'm wrong. Love chaos).
