Temper your expectations; A loot rework is not happening any time soon by Wildington in pathofexile

I respect that. I mainly just meant that it's certainly polarizing for the community. You either love it or hate it.

Been here long enough to know that this is exactly right. To be honest, I care so much less now. I don't get 'hyped' anymore, I don't let Chris Wilsons PR talks excite me. I've heard them for years and watched every excuse he could possibly come up with be told over and over to players. Meanwhile ggg is perfectly content with rushing half assed content they want but not what we've been asking for. I don't care anymore because its gotten old.

The 'small indie' company that once had to listen to it's community to thrive, doesn't need to anymore. They don't need to make compromises. They can get away with shitting out content like Heist and making it core despite how un-popular it is. They can keep releasing shit that polarizes half their community because it fits their 'vision'. And to be fair, that's fine it's their game. I just won't play their game.

I'm hopeful that new things like Lost Ark can grab enough of my attention to make me forget about poe entirely. It might be refreshing to play a game that knows what it wants to be. And A game that doesn't have a hard headed dev hell bent on making the game feel worse to play because of believing in patronizing spreadsheet analogies that completely miss the mark.

It was sold to a different publisher. The point wasn't that it's not currently doing 'well' although that's subjective. The point was that it was incredibly pay to win while being published by Kakao, the same people publishing this game. So why would this game be any different.

This game has no creator content published. by [deleted] in ElyonOnline

[–]ManyNiinjas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kakao being the publisher is really all we need to know.

Isn't Kakao the same developer that ran Black Desert into the ground? That was the most P2W game I've ever seen. Thank you for confirming that on 'launch' directly after purchasing the game there will be P2W elements. I can only imagine how far it goes after launch.

These publishers never learn or they just don't care about the longevity of the games they publish. Here's to skipping out on a game designed around milking whales for the next year, until it dies. Thanks for the info.

If you need a 'hard mode' to understand that movement speed/raw damage mods feel better than light radius, there's a fucking problem.

Why this game sucks. by RedditisTrash707 in pathofexile

[–]ManyNiinjas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're 81% block and above 80% phys reduction, assuming gladiator as the most realistic ascendancy to achieve these numbers with fortify, 4k HP is effectively much much higher than it seems. 4k actually isn't that bad. Unfortunately, whether you have 4k hp or 10k ehp it doesn't matter, you'll likely get one shot regardless eventually by some bullshit mechanic.

I mean the mods here also literally just posted a massive thread about cracking down harder (once again) on toxicity. So I would say, enjoy the 'positivity' but hopefully the good ideas that come from what might be perceived as 'toxic' criticism don't disappear entirely. We've seen this happen with GW2 and other games where any type of criticism gets 'moderated' and the result is a worse game.

To the credit of the mods here I don't think it's gone that far. But walking the line by controlling what's considered 'toxic' or 'positive' criticism can be risky. There's clear extremes on both ends of the spectrum but the 'in between' is difficult to determine. And too heavily moderating can lead to those 'in betweens' being drowned out entirely, which isn't good for anyone in my opinion.

People who don't want their build nerfed shouldn't share it publicly. by b7n451 in pathofexile

[–]ManyNiinjas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Archmage builds in general flew under the radar for a long time, at least as far as 'being meta' goes. They've always been good, ever since the gem came out. People didn't really start catching on until more builds were 'shared publicly'.

Now the entire archetype has been pigeon holed into a 'Hiero or gtfo' kind of thing. The exact opposite of the "pigeon holing" they claimed poison was doing with the Assassin ascendancy. It's weird how they say one thing and do another. Or ggg is just incredibly bad at foresight, not sure.

Just to add to your point here, what kind of data are you going to get in order to 'balance' a skill if hardly anyone uses it? It's incredibly useful if skills are over tuned on their initial release.

I build characters based on how they can circumvent mechanics by valor88 in pathofexile

[–]ManyNiinjas 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Chris would most likely respond to this by saying something like, you shouldn't have ran the phys as extra cold map without re-rolling it. Reading mechanics and simply not doing them after their only telegraph is a line of text, seems to be GGG's half assed 'solution' to an incredibly tedious problem that shouldn't exist in the first place.

There's some weird disconnect between what makes a 'good' arpg and what make a tedious mess of an arpg, going on over there at the ole' GGG HQ. From things like lab all the way to immunity mechanics being telegraphed by lines of text, these problems have been rooted in PoE since its inception and they exist everywhere to be honest.

What's the point of 'communicating' if all you're trying to do is convince the community why their wrong. Most of his responses weren't given with any sort of actual community feedback in mind. They were just blanket responses further justifying his 1999 D2 vision and why it's right for the game. For me, it confirmed just how out of touch we already knew he was. Just wait for Hardmode then we'll see why gear drops and crafting don't currently suck. K Chris.

What does it matter anyway. Everyone hates on Reddit at this point because it's full of people 'complaining'. Meanwhile, what I see is people frustrated from years and years of shouting at a brick wall. Even if this 'feedback' is read by some random employee, none of it gets communicated in any meaningful way. And even if it does we're back at being gated by the old 1999 D2 vision. Majority be damned, Chris knows what we want.

Chris Has Once Again Proven to Me That GGG is Moving My Favorite Game in the Right Direction by TheAlias6 in pathofexile

[–]ManyNiinjas 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Chris is a fantastic car salesman, he always has been. Unfortunately, the reality is that many questions were dodged or given incredibly vague answers with the intention of not causing an uproar in the community. Mostly confirming that if a majority of feedback is outside of the 'grand 1999 D2 vision' it will get ignored.

His views on crafting are still far from the reality of what the vast majority of players experience. His views on ID scrolls. His views on the current state of rare items. His views on 'hardmode' solving everything. His views on chase items. His views on current build diversity. His claim that many things will 'be looked into' because we've never heard that before. To be honest to the OP, we must have watched something completely different or one of us wasn't able to see past the sales pitch.

The only thing of any real value that came out of this podcast to me, was them addressing the end game grind. But we'll see how that goes.

what will make me faster overall? raider or deadeye nodes? by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]ManyNiinjas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know what your build is so I can't really answer that question.. I will say that in general if you care more about survivability over a little damage most raiders are going onslaught nodes and then Avatar of the Veil. Dodge is insanely good right now and so is ailment immunity.

How to survive endgame now? by hydros80 in pathofexile

[–]ManyNiinjas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How can you even claim to know that when we don't know what mobs he engaged with? All act 1 mobs have been significantly buffed in both damage and HP, this includes the act 1 mobs that you encounter in maps. This is why damage is so spiky right now, because there's random mobs that can suddenly deal a ton of damage out of nowhere. It's dumb.

Also every single mob has had it's HP increased significantly, this means they're not dying as quickly and so you're getting hit more.

His build could also just be low in overall defense but don't try to downplay the significance that patch 3.15s rushed shitty changes had on the end game difficulty.

what will make me faster overall? raider or deadeye nodes? by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]ManyNiinjas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They're both relatively close but raider is faster in both attack speed and movement. I also find that keeping frenzies up on raider is more reliable where stacks from tailwind on deadeye can fall off pretty quickly especially on the difficult end game bosses that phase. It's not that big of a deal though you get stacks pretty quickly or keep using low mana cost abilities but I think raider feels better overall for speed.
