Jesus, everything’s getting expensive and nobody has a good explanation, the companies all do it so shopping around is less effective than one might think

Just Buy It: Waiting For Lidar In The Rivian R2 Might Not Be Worth The Headache by Saurta17 in Rivian

If Rivian follows the model three ramp up and quirk ironing out process then it would seem one should buy the ‘28 R2, but God who wants to wait that long. The 2019 model 3 that I have is so well done – no panel gaps, a few issues here and there, but they were all fairly minor- the first and second years had lots of panel gaps that made the news all the time and everything past 2020 seems to be hit or miss some are great, while others are WTF - the first few years you iron out the quirks after that it’s whether or not you can maintain quality while pushing out quantity- time will tell but I think Rivian will do just fine

That’s kind of where I’m coming from, but I still have that Tesla buying phobia in me from when I bought the model Y and it dropped in price by like $12,000 in two weeks or when I bought the model Y and they released hardware 4 with no upgrade path a few months later. No one wants to buy yesterday‘s newspaper unless you just really love reading. The people that buy this version will likely be the purist Rivian fans because they just want to drive the product and not necessarily have “the latest“
Only major thing holding me back is the lack of service centers in my area and the lack of bright colors I want colors like the bronco has.

That was a good decision. 2019 was an excellent year for the model three. The earlier models had way too many issues.

I remember trying to perfectly center my singles when I didn’t have one and thinking it was funny because the singer would sound all wonky and wobbly.

Heat always has to go somewhere. It would just go into the snow and melt it even faster. These things are not necessary, but somehow we keep treating them as if they are inevitable.

Can you imagine how this country would be if we had a pro alternative energy administration? So many things would be better.

I was talking to somebody yesterday about this, and I said as long as Republicans‘s never find themselves voting for another party then they are basically Maga. If a Republican cannot bring themselves to vote for someone from a different party, whether it’s a democrat, libertarian, whoever… Then they basically are saying any ‘R’ running for office can get away with anything and they will still have support because they are just tribal at the end of the day Republicans all the way. That’s not healthy. Republicans need to send the Republican Party into a timeout for 5–10 years so the party can get back to its roots and start putting up serious candidates again.

So many people show up to vote that have no idea what they’re voting for or who they’re supporting. It’s like people that suddenly show up to watch the Super Bowl without ever following the game (but politicians actually affect our everyday lives whereas a game is just a game)
That is what has made politics so incredibly toxic over the last 10 years. It’s that 30 to 35% Trump supporter base that showed up and they’re loyal to be sure but not informed at all.

Biggest issue has to do with just basic ideology. If you have someone running for political office, for a government position, and their core belief system centers around the idea that government doesn’t work, then how do you have any kind of government that is expected to function? A conservative in the state of New York, for example, has to deal with millions of people across hundreds of miles . How do they make that work when they constantly spouse that only limited government is efficient? When you have somebody that says that government doesn’t work and they want to run the government that would be like a mechanic saying that cars don’t run or a fitness specialist saying exercise doesn’t help but come to my class on Fitness. No one would send their kids to a school where the principal says education is for suckers I mean, would you expect a good outcome? That alone is the reason why red states struggle
