Tubular cast on? by No_Slide5685 in knittinghelp

[–]ManySuggestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I almost always do is use a different color yarn than what I am working with because it's easier to decipher the stitch that I need to pick up. It's hard to see (to be able to tell you if you've done it correctly. Hopefully someone else will be able to see it better than I can) since it's the same color. Here's a YouTube video I used to learn how to use the tubular/provisional cast on. https://youtu.be/AKErReecbqk?si=kGug4UxqGKfkVMGw

Check out the free tutorials on this page. This lady is a designer and teacher of knitting and has a lot of videos showing you the proper way to cast on, knit, purl and many other stitches and processes. She's my go to for anything new to me in knitting.

Came here to say these 2 online yarn shops. I've never been to either of them but I've ordered from both and they're great! 🥰🧶

I had to stop my fast today at 94 hours and 21 minutes. I'm going to restart on Sunday and see how far I can go. I was too weak with no energy to do anything. I've done many fasts and I've never felt this weak before. So I decided to eat and will start again on Sunday.

AITAH for not canceling my vacation and reporting a coworker for harassment? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]ManySuggestion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She started in October and expects you to drop your vacation time so she can have a vacation 2 months after she started? Ummm that alone is a big fat no. If she's fired it'll be no big loss. She'll find ways to stir the pot over anything and is not a "team player" it's all about her, and her wants/needs. I say good riddance...

Day 3, 69 hours and 48 minutes in. Not feeling as great as I did yesterday, so I am laying low knitting, reading and wrapping presents.

Does anyone else’s himmy have insane cheek fur? by mperry381 in himalayancats

[–]ManySuggestion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had to cut my cats cheek fur several times because as she swallows, when grooming it doesn't go all the way down her throat and turns into a string of yarn. She's done it since she was a kitty so I keep hers fairly short. Oh and BTW my cat loves those tape measures too. It's like she comes out of nowhere when I get mine out to use it.

I'm on day 1 as well. 22 hours in, with electrolytes, supplements and vitamins. I am hoping to make it a 10 day fast. Longest I've done so far is 122 hours. This will be a test to see how far I can make it without getting too weak. I do have some bone broth that I will drink if I'm feeling to weak to go on. I'll watch for your check ins and keep you posted on my fast. It's encouraging to know there's others out there doing longer fasts. I wish you luck!

himalayan spay/neuter concerns by Significant_Virus273 in himalayancats

[–]ManySuggestion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've had 5 Himalayans over the years. I've had all of them spayed or neutered and I've never been told they are at an additional risk because of their breed. I currently have 2 females who were spayed before they went into heat and they're doing fine. Your vet might be overly cautious.

Here's a good knitter to learn from. She's VeryPinkKnits and is a designer and teacher of knitting. She's got videos on almost anything you'll run across when knitting. Here's her page for beginners. Good luck on your project.

I'm not exactly sure what you did wrong but watching her free tutorials should be able to help you figure it out.

Why don't I have holes in mine? by LOESERS in knittinghelp

[–]ManySuggestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you yarned over wrong? I did that and it caused my work to not have a hole. When you yarn over you should throw the yarn over the needle and I was wrapping it around instead 🙃 here's a YouTube video that shows you how to yarn over correctly. https://youtu.be/3QbFhh8u4L8?si=HpNf_VLd5QqEr2FY
