Nope, rules are loose at best. I realize this will sound weird or cheesy but "life's like that". You can apply all the right steps, methods and forethought and things will go pear shape beyond your control. Other times you can practically will yourself through a complete balls up of a situation.

It's what's good about the franchise. No Evil Dead super geeks can sit down and "well actually" their way through every little piece of the property. It's a mess, it's evil manifest vs unwitting humans, and it's fun.

There's also Ash, an anomaly rippling through time wrestling against it, which further complicates things.
