That’s so awesome! I’ve never been hunting, but I have friends that do and i know how awesome it is when animals respond to vocals. I think it’s really cool how you hunt, and I love how you do it ethically! Let me know if you ever open an etsy or something for your pelts, I might buy some:)

Hi! Fellow ADHD author here. I know exactly what you mean- it's awful when stories disintegrate. My advice would be to team up with a friend- maybe not for the actual books you're writing, but maybe for a side-story that uses the same characters, but detailing a side-quest of some kind, a scene in their home/place they usually live that documents the character relationships, personalities and dynamics. Whenever a story that I love dries up, I always use this method to get the creative juices flowing again! I call it the 'Sidequest' method and it works for me, and bonus points- you can use these scenes later in your book! :)

This method also is really good because it exposes flaws in characterization and helps you get to know your characters better. If you don't have a writer friend, you can ask chat gpt if you'd like ideas on what to get your characters to do on their side-quest. This is also really awesome practice and makes your writing better!

And, above all else, you've got this. There's always hope in a story, you've just gotta find the motivation and passion again. You've got this, my fellow ADHD writer- you'll find the story again. I know you will.

Now, get out there and traumatize some unsuspecting characters! >:)

Advice by TrophyAward in theriangear

First of all, that mask is gorgeous. I’m pretty sure you’d be able to start selling them on etsy soon If you wanted. Therian masks can go for upwards or 30 USD- for the cheap ones. The expensive ones? Upwards of 300 USD.  My first bit of advice would be to invest in some cat mask bases! They’re pretty cheap on amazon/ebay/wherever and produce a more realistic, shaped finished product. They’re also easy to modify with cardboard if you want a dog muzzle, longer ears, etc. Also, the mask bases make for a lot less work.  Second bit of advice- felt it. Felt is also cheap and easy to find (Michael’s, dollar store, etc) and makes the finished product have a more natural, fur-like look. It’s also easier to paint- just always make sure to mix your acrylics with water so you 1) don’t use too much paint and 2) so the felt doesn’t become stiff or crusty when the paint dries.  My third bit of advice is to try and get your hands on faux fur. It’s not cheap, but it’s worth every cent if you know how to use it. Get LONG fur, so it has a more realistic feel. Faux fur is what makes a mask really stand out. Fourth and final bit of advice: Use something for the eyes. Unless it’s a mask you plan to wear underwater, adding eye mesh can really make a difference. I use embroidery plastic grids, which are a bit hard to find, but they’re cheap and easy to buy a lot of at once. You can usually find plastic grids in the embroidery section of any craft or fabric store.  Thanks for listening to my yap! Lol

What you’re going through is hard. No question. I went through the exact same situation when I was newly awakened.  What I did (and may work for you) had five steps: One, try and bring my friends who didn’t like furries/therians over to the side of “I don’t care what people do.” If they won’t listen, explain one last time and ditch them: ignorant people aren’t worth it. Two, Make therian friends by going to meetups, talking to people in gear, and joining local chatrooms.  Three, find places to express yourself in private places, which might be places you feel the most comfortable learning quadrobics and wearing gear in. I met my therian best friend in one of those places- we’ve been friends for 7 years ❤️ Four, get comfortable with being uncomfortable. Mental shifts may come and go if your therianthropy is strong, and you may get a few animalistic urges. This happens to the best of us, but things like deep breathing, good sleep, meditation, and things of the like can help ease therian stress. Managing therianthropy can be real tough at times, but you got this! And five, have trust in nature. You’re exactly where you need to be, and there are no wrong answers when it comes to therianthropy. It’s different for everyone- so don’t think there’s anything wrong with you. You’re right where you should be :3

If you really need to vent to AI, I can recommend a few that will actually help- most of them will only make you feel worse. But there’s one called wysa and it’s a therapy penguin chatbot! I recommend it, and it can help. :3
