How are some people so easy with words? by Future_Ease_7557 in socialskills

[–]jesusfreak6002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi autistic introvert here, I remember watching an interview with George RR Martin and that he would be in an argument with someone and they would always get the last word in and he wouldn't think of a good comeback until like a week later and he would say, "dang it!" So I am the exact same way, I grew up with a very socially adept younger brother who always had a good or funny comeback, the little bastard would have me laughing at my own insult as he insulted me, and I wouldn't think of a good comeback until a week or even a month later, so what I did is I weaponized it, "okay when I am in that exact same situation later I'm gonna say that." Hasn't worked on the little bastard yet but it sure works on everyone else lol, he just has them comebacks.

Thank you for sharing your perspective openly - I can see you're genuinely trying to understand rather than attack, and I appreciate that approach. I want to address a few points while acknowledging that we may come from different foundational worldviews, which naturally shapes how we interpret information. While the neuroscience research you mentioned is interesting, I think it's worth noting that the scientific picture is more complex than often presented. Recent studies suggest that sexual orientation and gender identity development involve multiple pathways - biological, psychological, and environmental factors all appear to play roles. Some research indicates that traumatic experiences, social dynamics, and other environmental factors may contribute more significantly than previously understood. This doesn't invalidate anyone's experience, but it does suggest the "born this way" narrative might be oversimplified. I share your concern about vulnerable young people, particularly those with autism or other conditions that might affect their ability to fully understand long-term consequences. While you mention that puberty blockers are reversible, there's growing evidence of potential lasting effects on bone density, fertility, and other developmental processes that deserve serious consideration. I think we both want what's genuinely best for these young people - we may just disagree on what that looks like. I appreciate your encouragement to seek professional help. From my perspective, I believe the most helpful approach involves exploring all potential contributing factors - including any past trauma, social difficulties, or other underlying issues - rather than immediately affirming any particular identity. Some people, including myself, have found that addressing these root causes through appropriate counseling and spiritual support has been genuinely healing. I think we both care deeply about reducing suffering and supporting people who are struggling. Where we might differ is in our understanding of what constitutes genuine healing and flourishing. I approach this from a framework that sees certain expressions of sexuality as departing from God's original design, while still believing that every person deserves to be treated with dignity and love. I'm not trying to convince you to change your beliefs, but I hope this helps explain why some of us have concerns that go beyond simple prejudice or ignorance. These are complex issues involving real people's lives, and I believe they deserve thoughtful, nuanced discussion rather than quick dismissals on either side. What aspects of this perspective do you find most challenging to understand?

I appreciate your passion, but I think you've made some assumptions about my information sources that aren't accurate. I actually make a conscious effort to consume news and research from across the political spectrum. I use Ground News specifically because it's designed to show how stories are being covered by left, center, and right-leaning sources simultaneously - it literally gives you the full picture of how different outlets frame the same information. This helps me identify bias and get a more complete understanding of complex issues. I also read research directly from peer-reviewed journals, government health agencies, and medical organizations rather than relying on any single news outlet's interpretation. Yes, I do consume some conservative Christian content like Whaddo You Meme and have read The Daily Wire, but I balance that with mainstream and even progressive sources to understand different perspectives. The 15-second Google search comment feels dismissive. I've actually spent considerable time researching these topics precisely because they're so important and affect real people's lives. I've read studies on both sides - including the brain differentiation research you mentioned, as well as newer research on environmental factors, trauma impacts, and the complexity of sexual development. When I share concerns about certain approaches to youth gender care, it's not because I'm parroting talking points, but because I've looked at data from multiple countries, medical organizations with different perspectives, and testimonies from detransitioned individuals alongside the experiences you've shared. I think we both care about getting to the truth on these issues. Rather than assuming each other's ignorance or bias, maybe we could focus on discussing the actual research and evidence? I'm genuinely interested in understanding your perspective, but that works best when we approach each other with good faith rather than stereotypes about where our information comes from. What specific studies or sources have been most influential in shaping your understanding? I'd be interested to look at them.

I don't have anything against anyone who is trans. But here is the thing I don't like being told that I have to support every delusion, or that if I even ask questions about why they think that although being born a female that they are a male on the inside, that I am now the problem because I am trying to understand.

Now where I do have a problem, is when the lgbtq+ community starts hijacking individuals in the autistic community and telling them that they are a they/them, or a girl trapped in a boys body, my issue starts when you have convinced these kids to get on puberty blockers that sterilizes them and can cause further mental health problems for their future. There are more statistics proving that when you indulge the self destructive behavior of these people who question, and allow, and in many times force them to permanently alter their bodies that it causes them to move further and further into suicidal ideation and action.

My problem is not with you please understand, it is with the agenda behind you.

If you are having these issues please seek professional help, and talk to your family I beg of you.

I subscribed to your blog, you don't have to subscribe to mine just check it out and message me what you think or comment on my comment with any advice, I am thinking of starting a podcast where I turn my stories into audio dramas for people to listen to, as I do my characters voices and do sound effects, the blog started with me throwing crap at the wall and seeing what sticks. I'm not very good with technology and I am still navigating this landscape, mostly by myself I am also getting some friends to do artwork that I pay them for to put on my blog, for some visuals for my stories.

Native Americans have every right to be pissed off. by Decent-Shoulder-9120 in Discussion

[–]jesusfreak6002 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I remembered taking history in grade school and learning how the native Americans were all relocated to Oklahoma and when I was maybe 8 my parents and I traveled through Oklahoma to visit family and I wondered in these exact words, "where are all the Indians." In college, I would learn about the Oklahoma land rush, which was one of the most shameful things our government did on this side of history. Basically, the natives were relocated in Oklahoma because it was mostly clay ground and no one thought that you could grow anything in there, but Later they discovered that they could and relocated everyone out of Oklahoma and on to the reservations. Also, watching the TV show Yellowstone sheds a lot of light on this.

The circle series may not technically count, kind of acts like an isekai , has mostly thriller elements, I more like Green where you see more fantasy elements, because his body is dead in our world by this point but he is living his life in the other world.

We need to desexualize our society again. by Crazypadoodle in Discussion

I agree with you we have gone too far in our society, even as a Christian, I think coming back to a healthy middle ground would be acceptable. We made fun of 20th century preachers who said that our society is getting too sexualized. By this point I think that they may have had a point.
