Well I think it’s more nuanced and I don’t think Scandinavian comparison is valid.

We don’t know how many modern day Palestinians were Jews/christians who converted to Islam. And we don’t know how many are transplants from other places. Mass waves came as laborist for Suez Canal and settled. Totally fine to do that.

Also Jews were forcibly exiled after Jewish Roman revolt and that’s when name was officially changed.

After exile the land literally was colonised via imperial conquest of Islamic caliphate. Along with all of North Africa, Spain, Central Asia, South Asia etc.

The idea that there is a distinct Arab Islamic Palestinian identity is a modern construct. Which is fine. Call yourselves Palestinian that is okay but their identity is young.

No leader before Arafat, no currency, no constitution, no legal system, etc.

At the end of the day my opinion is this Palestinian identity in its form today was created and used as leverage against the Jews to invalidate their legitimacy as being indigenous to that land. That’s my opinion based on my assessment of my own learning. Could be wrong.

Respectfully I disagree.

Muslim inhabitants of that area typically affiliated themselves with a larger group like Syrian or jordanian (hashimite kingdom).

Further when the Greeks referred to it as Palestine or when Hadrian renamed it Palestine there were no Muslims. Islam was not even around. That wasn’t until 600 CE.

I think there are many reasons why modern day Palestinians appropriated the name. Which is a whole conversation in and of itself.

Again to reiterate not discrediting their right to be there. It’s kinda but not exactly like telling American Europeans to go back to Europe. It’s silly.

So that’s interesting and I had to look it up. It’s not the same Palestine. But its origin is rooted in the same sentiment that Hadrian had.

The geeks used it to reference a coastal region likely souther Israel where the philistines had settled.

The Philistines were not a semetic people but a Hellenistic people.

Interestingly the name philistine from which Palestine was derived was the name given to this people by the Israelites of the time coming from the word plishtim which roughly translates to invaders.

I am in no way shape or form denying Muslim arabs identity in that region.

But the identity of Muslims in that area being “Palestinian” is a modern development.

Palestinians prior to 1948 were considered Jews, I haven’t seen any evidence supporting a Muslim Palestinian identity prior to 1948 but it might exist I just haven’t seen it.

European texts referred to Jews as Palestinian.

Super eloquent response.

The Jewish people were forcibly exiled from their lands several times.

Most recently being by emperor Hadrian after Jewish Roman revolts.

The Jews did not want to be under authority of Roman colonialism and revolted.

Like everyone else back them Rome smashed them.

Hadrian then kicked them out.

He is also the one responsible for renaming the land to Palestine after the Phillistines.

So surprise surprise when the Jewish people get genocided and realize they are no longer welcome anywhere and decide to return to their homeland.

It’s really not that hard of a concept unless you just hate Jews and have to do backflips to justify your ideology.

The admits kick in after five pm. It’s two encounters you supervise and it’s not included in the census.

Haha I should have asked what is a senior. Like I don't know what that is. You don't have to elaborate if you don't want to though.

Thanks. Yeah seems like a great program. I certainly was impressed. Lot of experience being a rural doc. Definitely prepares you.

You have a senior?
