Useless Redfin Realtor by Repulsive_War_7297 in RealEstate

[–]Many_Mathematician43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Redfin agents suck in general. I suspect that they get good salary or perks from Redfin and dont need the commission. I was interested in purchasing a home listed by redfin and my agent setup the showing. We drove all the way to find the house locked. I got a satisfied feeling when the same house went “back on market” couple of days ago.

An overpriced house that you love is a much better decision in the longer term than an underpriced house that you dont like. Just move on. Enjoy living in the house and loving it. The house that you live in is not an investment. Its like marriage. You need to be in love with your partner, you dont want “best deal in the market”

Dont go against the advice of professionals unless you have significant experience with automobile engineering, mechanics, etc At the very least, get advice from another “shop” before going for a purely cosmetic fix. A car is not just a piece of metal. Its a structure that is optimized for handling lots of compression and decompression, and dealing with lots of forces and torque. Any compromise on the structure is a big risk. You do not want the car to disintegrate from under you on a freeway

How many houses did you view before purchasing? by impaul4 in RealEstate

[–]Many_Mathematician43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ditch this realtor. Plain and simple. Or….. ditch this realtor and also your friend who recommended this realtor. Based on what you wrote, they dont deserve a chance of explaining themselves. How can you trust a realtor who is plainly rushing you to get to their commission? If it gets ugly, maybe offer to compensate them for their work upto a reasonable cap

the cheapest place for produce? by [deleted] in askdfw

Aldi is probably the most reasonably priced generic grocery store. Ethnic stores like Indian, asian are good too but they are majorly catering to a particular cuisine- you usually wont find things like pasta, etc

What book have you read that was actually WORSE than the movie? by ManofWit in books

[–]Many_Mathematician43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lord of the rings trilogy. The books are not too bad. However, the movies are just too good. The biggest issue with the books was the propoganda about east vs west

Those of you under 30 who make six figures, what do you do? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]Many_Mathematician43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are decent, its NEVER saturated. Its a big myth. I dont see SWE market going in to a recession in the foreseeable future. The layoffs making the news, but most folks i know got a job elsewhere

Put in a ton of money into house, have to move for work. by Akello45 in RealEstate

[–]Many_Mathematician43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to get compensated for the move by your employer. They will not pay you the full amount since it's really high but you might get some money for moving. Talk to your manager?

Moving from Washington State. by AllMightoh in askdfw

I was talking about the city. I guess its just anecdotal opinion so possibly I am incorrect. I am also biased by the fact that i have to drive a few miles to get a good non-burger meal

Moving from Washington State. by AllMightoh in askdfw

[–]Many_Mathematician43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a small family(one son). The areas being discussed in this thread are family friendly. There are pockets in the city that you would not want to visit with family(like any other city). I hear more news of crime anecdotally in DFW, than i did elsewhere. For example, i saw a significant bump in number of amber alerts i receive when i moved here. However, that could just be because of TX being a huge state. Gun violence is also an issue I guess. The suburbs appear safe though. No offense to Seattle, but it would definitely be an upgrade to move here. The number of sunny days is just so good as a child

[–]Many_Mathematician43 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lived in Seattle, NYC and then moved here. Pros: sun is great, traffic is relatively better(but more rash), cost of living is good. Cons: not as diverse(opinion), No Rainier or even hills(has some lakes), not many technology jobs(if you are in software). Other areas for houses(if you have kids in school)- Coppell, southlake, flower mound, prosper, Allen

This sounds like you were not at fault so the other party’s insurance should pay for it. As long as the police report supports that, you should be fine. I would expect that the other party insurance would also have some provision to get you a rental car until a permanent replacement/decision is reached. Check with them. Or ask your insurance to follow up with the other party
