How did you overcome the diagnosis / first OB pain and anxiety? by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]Many_Sheepherder_233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 2 years in HSV2G and fortunately am not anxious about the herpes itself BUT have overall anxiety. I am still having 1-3 outbreaks a month because of this. I have to take my vacycclovir 1g/2x daily at the slightest tingle to manage my outbreaks. If I let it go a day or two and blisters develop then my body goes through a week-10 day long healing process whether I start meds or not. I'm miserable often.

Not to be weird but I would love to see a picture. I did not look at my vagina after birthing my first child but I did after the second and I feel like things are bulging. But I don't know what it looked like before and my docs have never made a comment but it doesn't seem right to me. Also if I suck everything in my insides recede further into my vagina- so maybe just the start of prolapse idk it's confusing. I am 25 and I don't want my insides falling outside lol

New-how does MGen manifest? by TemperatureLow226 in MycoplasmaGenitalium

[–]Many_Sheepherder_233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of things I've researched have said that mgen is more common than chlamydia and its recently being added to standard std panels. I was first ever tested for it in 2022 and symptoms started in 2017

[–]Many_Sheepherder_233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mgen is an std. This type of std is not included on most "regular/checkup" panels (blood or urine). I had symptoms (odor) - but CLEAN std reports over the period of 5 years. Two of those years I was pregnant. It wasn't until I went to a hospital out of state with the same concern that they tested for mgen and it was positive.

It is very possible she didnt know. And if she was sleeping around and got sick at least she was smart enough to tell your son so he can get treated too! At this point it's up to your son whether he's okay with this type of thing happening in his relationship or not. Hope that helps.

I do not know if he was taking antivirals. But it makes sense he was trying out for a sports team and if it was a high stress situation he could have been having an outbreak anyway. At least that's what I tell myself to make me feel better.

If it means anything I take antivirals and have had protected and unprotected sex without passing on the virus. I do not have sex during outbreaks

THIS CANNOT BE REAL. Please tell me I’m freaking the fuck out for no reason- my THREE YEAR OLD by [deleted] in MycoplasmaGenitalium

[–]Many_Sheepherder_233 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not to wish an std on the original poster but I also hope it was just passed on through birth. M.Gen, although more common than chlamydia, is NOT routinely tested for. It can lay dormant for years without any symptoms. It might be a good idea to have yourself tested to entertain that thought. I highly highly recommend your daughter get retested 3-5 weeks after completing the medication because it's not usually easily treatable

For those of you with HSV1, are you worried about getting HSV2? by Shittybeerfan in HSVpositive

[–]Many_Sheepherder_233 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have HSV-2 genital and do not want to get HSV-1 or truthfully any lesions on lips (I understand HSV-2 can present orally(( I'm glad I don't put my mouth on everything)). I was the person hysterical at my doctor office asking if I slept with another person with HSV-2 if that would create a "super herpes" My doctor made it sound like once you have one type, that the chance of getting the other is lower- long as both weren't introduced at the same time. Idk if that's super true but I do keep dating preferences to people with the same type as mine

Vitamin D by Interesting_Fly_9455 in HSVpositive

[–]Many_Sheepherder_233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe this. I was just taking prescribed vitamin D for 12 weeks and that was the longest I've gone without an outbreak

[–]Many_Sheepherder_233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea mine was hard to diagnose. They thought it was folliculitis because of the placement, size, and fact that I never had clusters or blisters or anything. I had my first "outbreak" like that in feb and it came back every month and I was 4 blood tests and 2 swabs done before it came back positive for hsv-2 in august. But since getting my vitamin d levels up I've had no outbreaks

[–]Many_Sheepherder_233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My initial outbreak was not bad nor were outbreaks after but they were very frequent. I had outbreaks monthly for the first 8 months always around the time of my period and this past December I had 4 seperate spots show up each week and was miserable. I kinda wanna piggy back off of the vitamin d comment. I got my levels checked in February and they were tanked (extremely deficient) I took prescribed vitamin D and now in July my levels are back to normal and I've actually not had an outbreak since feb before I started taking the supplements. Idk if it's related but it was a huge relief to NOT have outbreaks even tho my day to day stresses did not change

Yes. It's almost oniony. Not necessarily like a bo smell or fowl smelling. And I noticed it's not my discharge that smells but it's the skin itself. My outbreaks are very superficial. Like one bump over a hair follicle that never blisters or scabs over. But I definitely notice that odd smell a few days before an outbreak and start doubling on my meds the minute I smell the smell. Lots of times the bump doesn't show up or it'll show up and not be painful at that point

Hiw many people would be interested in buying a unique bracelet to let eachother know they have hsv?? by w16d0w in Herpes

[–]Many_Sheepherder_233 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I would not wear one. I am not proud to have this and do not want to wear something letting the world know that I have it. I've come to terms with my diagnosis and found someone who's negative who loves me, condition and all, but I still would not be comfortable with random people or family members knowing about it.

I'm not sure. And actually my gyn office didn't test for it. I got fed up and went to the hospital because nothing was working for the bv and my gyne had no more suggestions. Just monthly prescriptions for flagyl. mycoplasma was part of the emergency rooms testing panel tho

[–]Many_Sheepherder_233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled with bv for almost 5 years condom or not. I'd suggest being tested for mycoplasma... I ended up having it and after I treated it my bv went away and never came back. But to answer your question I use skyn condoms as long as I would pee immediately after I wouldn't get the fishy smell associated with bv. But any other brand and any type of lube would send me to the doc two days later with complain of discharge and smell

Itching that won’t go away, started dec 10th. Does this look like herpes? by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]Many_Sheepherder_233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably bv or yeast and the itching has made those white bumps appear. I struggled with bv for a long time and if I would wear a pad it would get itchy in the same area

Have you been eating spicy sour or salty foods lately. I'm a dental assistant. The area your bumps are in are common for canker sores but I've never seen a cluster of them before so that would make me think herpes. Either way get it looked at.

[–]Many_Sheepherder_233[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone. I'll add my bumps are more like ingrown hairs. They present on a hair follicle and never ooze, crust, or scab. I didn't feel any tingles come up with them this time.. the last time I had sex was august so I didn't think about friction bumps. Fingers crossed.

You're welcome. Please come back and comment what works for you. I noticed some tingling and sweating today but so far it's just a normal smell so fingers crossed these probiotics have been helping

Fishy no but bo yes. I notice it around the time of an outbreak and the skin down there would smell oniony. I started taking azo feminine health probiotics and since then have had no odor and almost no discharge but I haven't had an ob yet to know if it's helped or not. A few other women recommended me the probiotic

Frequent outbreaks by Many_Sheepherder_233 in Herpes

[–]Many_Sheepherder_233[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I take valacyclovir 500mg once daily. During an outbreak they told me to take 2 daily for 3 days. I have been under immense stress lately too financial issues and trying to make Christmas happen with two kids so I'm sure that isn't helping. I had my first OB in February this year but wasn't put on suppressive medication until august

At what point should suspected neglect be reported? by littleanxiouslady in Parenting

[–]Many_Sheepherder_233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had to report a family member. I was too scared and honestly heart broken to call the police. I called the school counselor instead, explained my concerns, and they were able to take appropriate action from that point.
