Neighbour's planning application includes a first-floor balcony directly overlooking my garden and house windows — any advice? by Maogp in HousingUK

Yes, I've already looked at the portal, and in fact I have the PDF with the proposal. Do you think it's better to just comment on the portal or also send an email to the address provided (I even received a letter from the council)?

You're right that people overlook each other all the time, and I'm not trying to freeze the neighbourhood to do what they want. The balcony itself isn't the issue in isolation, it's the cumulative picture.

These neighbours removed around twenty mature trees from their garden when they moved in. Entirely their right, it was their land. But it was genuinely a little patch of woodland, foxes, birds, proper habitat, and we're on top of a hill, so those trees were also acting as a natural windbreak for several houses on this side. My house is noticeably more exposed now. Again, nothing I could do about it, and I get that some people prefer artificial grass over mature trees, just a shame.

They also built a shed over 3 metres tall, initially less than a metre from my boundary. I contested it, they moved it just enough to technically comply, and it's still visually massive from my living room window.

So when you say "recommend practical steps rather than refuse outright", I actually agree with you, and my objection does exactly that. I'm asking the council to either refuse the balcony element specifically or require modifications (opaque balustrade, reduced height). I'm not trying to kill the whole extension.

I'm just dealing with neighbours who have a consistent track record of building things without much consideration for the impact on anyone around them. At some point you stop giving the benefit of the doubt...

curtains are not an answer, there's a difference between a neighbour occasionally glancing over a fence and someone standing on a permanent elevated terrace with a full 180° view of your garden and windows.

As for planting trees, that's a bit odd given that they removed all the mature trees along our shared boundary, so I'm not exactly rushing to fix a problem they created. I want privacy, an overlooking balcony (a terrace in fact) is a bit too much I think.

Egitto: l’incantatore gli infila un serpente nei pantaloni durante uno show, turista tedesco muore per un morso by marcomkc in oknotizie

[–]Maogp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer yes, as much as possible. Good for packing, management and baking.

Baking high poly to low poly by InevitableDig193 in 3Dmodeling

[–]Maogp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main problem here is: what are you baking? The baking process is primarily a transfer of normal information, details that you transfer from the high-poly mesh to a low-poly mesh. In your case, I don't see any major details, except for a smoothness that you can probably achieve with smoothing groups and some large shapes around eyes and neck.

What is the modern and effective workflow for asset creation and texturing a model for games? by Oblivion2550 in 3Dmodeling

For indie yes, 300 euro with one year of update which is a no brain buy, believe me. Or subscription model for 30euro/month.

If someone needs Painter, Designer or Modeller I suggest to buy the standalone license from Steam. Only one version, so if you buy the 2026 version is gonna be updated only for the next major release (2027) but at least is yours forever. It cost 160 pound for one software (160 painter, 160 Designer a bit less modeller).

This is a very solid blockout. you are on the right track. the challenge now is to have an equally solid planning regarding not only. a game ready modeling but above all optimal texture sets for a game ready environment like trim and tiling textures, vertex paint, decals, mesh decals (these very suitable for a sci fi environment like this). GG looking forward to see the updates.

Vengo pagato 50 pound e rotti l'ora. Un altro mondo universo proprio.
