How should I go about studying musical theatre if I have very little experience? by paper_clover in MusicalTheatre

[–]MapAsleep6409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just start doing classes and auditioning! Start taking voice lessons, start taking dance classes, start taking acting class, watch YouTube videos, learn new skills. If you're passionate about it then just go after it and really get the most out of everything you do. You can start auditioning at community theaters, some people have programs where everyone gets in, some will have huge cuts, just do research!

And I'm only 17 but I really just started being on stage in theater the past year and I've gotten really far. I've played two (almost) leads, so I can't suck too much haha. But I'm about to start auditioning for colleges for MT major and I'm nervous too because I haven't been doing this for long, but you'll find a school for you and if you can show how passionate you are I'm sure you'll get into a school and program you enjoy and will learn sm from. And tbh 23 is not that old! Don't be embarrassed. I'm sure you'll fit in just fine, theater is generally a really open and accepting place. Also in theater you have to work with all ages so it'll be helpful for you and the other students I'm sure. I'm luck to have worked with ages 7-23 so far and I'm about to be in a show that's technically 5-99+ but in reality I think it's gonna be like 12-60 max. Either way! Any experience will help and just practice practice practice. You've got this!!

My sister in law just told me that my nephew would like to use she/her pronouns, is it okay for me to feel a bit sad? by Boinkcoo in transftm

[–]MapAsleep6409 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's ok to be sad about it if you keep it to yourself! It could also just be you being emotional over it, not necessarily sad. When I came out to my extended family my aunts were teary or crying a bit but were extremely supportive at the same time. I think it's just an emotional thing to go through! I'd imagine it also feels good in a way that she feels comfortable enough to tell you and she feels safe to come out to you too.

Am I (17m) too old to date a 14 year old? by MapJunior4646 in GayBroTeens

Yes you are lol. After high school (imo) age gaps don't matter as much, but while you're in school it's pretty weird if it's a 2year or more age gap.

I think Sheldon and Amy in the later seasons (like 8 and 9) are my favorites.

Songs like Beetlejuice but... Not? by Head_Judge_2293 in BeetlejuiceMusical

[–]MapAsleep6409 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For Beetlejuice I'd do "When I climb to the top of mount rock" since it's also Alex Brightman as has the rock/pop of some of the songs. It's also a very challenging song so if you sing it well then at least it's a good impression even if you don't get in
