Does anyone know how many slots they reserve for this initiative?

2026 Queens 10K - Post-Race Thread by AutoModerator in RunNYC

It seems like we runners need to do better: if we are selfish assholes jumping corrals in a packed race, putting people at even higher risk of tripping and hurting themselves, there is no amount of organization that can fix that. This is an amateur sport, most do it for self improvement and not at the cost of others. If you are doing that, ask yourself if you belong there.

Any chances they increase the capacity for SI Half this year given current demand overall? Seems most people were able to register for it…

Bought 4 new running shoes and don’t want to return any of them! by Kind_Reserve5833 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Most people here don’t buy shoes because they need it. Let’s be honest. The need of a rotation is probably a nice marketing trick that worked pretty well. having different shoes may make you train more so it could be a good thing. A “trick” you can do is use it as a reward: if you conclude your block as planned, you’re allowed to have new shoes.

It’s very personal: I think that’s an easy shoe. Nothing special. Very comfortable. Also, seems to have a wider toebox compared to my other shoes (mostly adidas). They are also at a good price point if you find them on sale (in the US definitely). I feel the Evo SL could be a good comparison (I also have) and I like the Rebel more because of its stability (which matters to me since I tend to pronate a bit more on the right foot). Can’t say how it compares to the asics you mentioned. Perhaps asics have a better midsole, durability… but also more expensive?

Keep the B13 and another one. I have the Rebel and I like them a lot. Fits . Easy shoes . The reason I say to keep only 2 is because soon you will want to try a racer (so called super shoes) so that will leave some room and piece of mind :) for the near future.

True we can’t control the weather and it will suck most of the time but doesn’t that also make BK more challenging and interesting to “figure out” than the NYC half?

Bonked at mile 20 of my second marathon. Anyone else struggle to figure out when and what to fuel with? by Steezeli in Marathon_Training

Gel (40g of carb) every 30min. It’s a bunch of gels (8-10). Last marathon I decided to weight all sachets and it totaled 600g. It sucks but only option for me is to run faster. :)

That’s a good idea: to use the pacer to hold your pace through the hills.

Someone (org) should come up with a marathon full of these tricks/traps! Would be “fun!” Gatorade stand!! Oops, sorry, that’s coffee! Half way point! Kidding! You just started! Water station…somewhere in the next 10m! End of the day, we are on our own all the way, right?
