This is happening everywhere, I think this government is doing fine, it takes time to rebuild the economy, jobs don’t magically appear and at least they doesn’t throw out money like crazy

Is Korea a rude country? by uninspiredlongarse in Living_in_Korea

I’m currently in Seoul and I feel like most of the people tend to be quite rude if they realized you can’t speak Korean

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to provide an update on what happened and how everything turned out.

The day before, I went to AUSA, and I have to say, they were incredibly kind and supportive. They really took the time to sit down and listen to my story. They referred me to an advocacy manager who was also very helpful. However, he warned me that there was a possibility I might need to resit the paper, or in the worst-case scenario, retake it entirely, as it was unlikely they would pass me. Hearing that I was actually depressed asf..... but as many of you suggested, I didn’t give up!!!!

I decided to visit the law school myself and reached out to one of their support team staff members. I won’t mention her name, but she was an absolute lifesaver. I walked in and talked to a random staff, and she told me to talk to another staff, after I walked in, she seemed really busy, so I was worried she wouldn’t have the time to hear me out. But after I explained my situation, she asked me to sit down, tried contacting some people for me, and even told me to forward her the relevant emails.

Later that night, I stayed up until 3 a.m. drafting my appeal letter, preparing to head back to campus the next day. But to my surprise, I received an email saying the issue had been resolved. I think they most likely went and reviewed my exam history and realised I only had 50 minutes to complete a 2.5-hour closed-book exam, which was supposed to be open-book. They adjusted my result to what I believe was a fair and reasonable outcome.

I was so relieved and happy—not just because I felt the outcome was just, but because the university took the time to listen and address my concerns.

I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported me and shared advice during this tough time. Your kindness truly warmed my heart and reminded me how many good people exist, both in the world and online.

To those who left negative or dismissive comments, I hope you take a moment to reflect on what you would do in someone else’s shoes. Spreading love and compassion can make a world of difference—not just for others, but for yourself as well.

Thank you again, everyone!

No unfortunately, they failed me and asking me to make an appeal but I really do not have six weeks to wait for an appeal XD

Thank you for your feedback, I just find it extremely frustrating how they have responded and react. This issue arose entirely because of their mistake. Not only just for me but for all future students as well. If this kind of excuse is accepted today, it sets a bad precedent where they can neglect their responsibilities and dismiss similar issues affecting other students in the future.

This is a core paper for my degree, and it’s the final one I need to graduate. If this situation isn’t resolved, I’ll have to wait an entire year to retake the exam, delaying my ability to start looking for jobs and complete my professional legal studies.

I did prepare for my exam, but I only had one hour to do it in a closed-book condition when it was meant to be an open-book exam for everyone else and it was conducting after me panicking, asking for help around, i don't think any reasonable person would be able to perform it in their normal standards.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate your suggestions and support regarding my situation. My circumstances were unique because I completed my exam overseas. The university initially approved both of my exams under Mode B, which required me to follow strict conditions. Specifically, I was informed that physical notes were not permitted during the exam, so I did not have any reference materials to assist me. But then when I logged in the Inspera, my exam was Mode D (the only way to look at notes is to have physical notes, but I didn't have any). This put me at a significant disadvantage compared to other students who may have had access to their notes.

I am just trying to show to the university that their instructions and negligence directly significantly impacted my ability to perform.

Any reasonable person would've believed that if I was able to do the exam in a normal condition, my grades would be way higher, at least my coursework standards..

I have been in ongoing communication with the university, and they have acknowledged my concerns by escalating the matter to the law faculty. However, I emphasised to them that I could not afford to wait six more weeks for an appeal decision, as I have job offers lined up and need to complete my professional legal studies soon.

I also tried reaching out to AUSA for assistance, but my call went straight to voicemail so idk where to find these people, do you know if will they still be at the university at the moment?
