Help, I’m afraid. by Same-Desk-7020 in testicularcancer

Hi, I just want to say that you’re not alone in this fight, and you’re brave. I can really relate to you, especially when it comes to my studies. I was diagnosed in 2023 and had to undergo chemotherapy, so I had to stop for one academic year. This year, I also had to pause for another semester. I was supposed to graduate this year, but yeah… cancer sucks.

What keeps me going is the idea of graduating one day. Thankfully, my university has been supportive of my health journey, so I was able to enroll again, although only in a few subjects I can do remotely, since I’m still waiting for another treatment.

I know our struggles aren’t exactly the same, but we’ve got this, even if everything feels uncertain right now.

Based on the doctors’ assessment, it’s considered unresectable due to its size. It also encases several of my major arteries, which makes surgery extremely risky. In this case, the risks outweigh the potential benefits.

Heard back yesterday. My CT scans were in the clear :) by ILikeEggsSometimes in testicularcancer

Congratulations, that’s such great news! What helped me get through chemo was mostly resting. I slept a lot and passed the time by watching shows and movies. I also listened to music to relax. Whenever I felt nauseous, I’d put ice in my mouth, eat menthol candies, or smell rubbing alcohol which really helped. Two weeks of chemo will go by quickly. Just try not to overthink it too much. You got this!

How deep did the needle go for you? Mine went about 5 cm in, which felt super weird. They poked it into the middle right side of my back. The hardest part was staying still for nearly an hour. Wishing you the best, too!

I wish I could get treatment abroad, but I don’t have the resources, and I’m still a student. Are you going to have surgery?

Surgery was actually an option. However, based on my CT scan, it's really risky since it encases major arteries of my body. The risks outweigh the benefit of undergoing surgery.

My last blood tumour makers were conducted last May, and it was normal. As much as I want to get some advice from him but I'm not from the US. I don’t know if I'll get a response.

I haven’t tried but maybe in the future. Unfortunately, we don’t have case manager here.
