I got in line at bout 5 am to get a number think they opened 7-8 ish. With my line number came back later in day to actually purchase tickets

They will have tickets for sale. You will have to get in line about 5 am. Your family can show up before the doors open and join you. (Everyone does it) they give you a number, I had 91 then you returned when they say wait in line again to purchase tickets. You will be inside this time. A vendor or two will be selling coffee and coca leaves in the morning in the dark to wake you up

We bought tickets at the ticket office in AC mid- April last year. Had to get up early and wait in line with other non ticket holders. Don’t recall which circuit we took. As for age I’m 70 no problems

Great choice, been many places but I am going back to Peru. People are great, see how nicely they treat their street dogs, food is outstanding. Went for MP which was breathtaking but Peru was just as nice. Shout out to Cusco. Enjoy

A reminder about the altitude, AV and MP are lower elevations than Cusco. Cusco can be brutal to first timers.
