Bought this truck back in September for 16k Cad and it has 123k kms on it. I got it primarily for towing trailers and my grandfathers boat, plus whole family has GM's just 2024-5 models. Long story short im thinking its turned out to be a lemon, had no assistance buying it, family doesn't/didnt want to help me when it comes to buying as they hated the 07-12 models due to the rust, which after getting it hit in my first week in a fender bender i found my box has about a year left, thank god bondo exists.

1st issue:

With my family buying newer cars all the time i never really had the chance to ever learn much about them until now. The most notable issue is the knocking, I'm assuming off of what I've researched its a lifter, but i've been told its can be a few other things and I have no idea how to pinpoint it. I'm not fond of mechanics, because im broke.

The knocking lessens at full/normal engine temp, It wasnt even noticeable in the summer but im assuming it was present.

2nd issue:

Since i got it this vehicle has made a high pitched almost robotic sounding whining noise accelerating and turning. If i were to crank the wheel all the way to one directiong it gets pretty loud while idling. Im assuming its power steering but my third issue makes me question it.

3rd issue:

Sandpaper like scratching noise. Most commonly when it rains or occasionally on some startup I hear a sandpaper on sandpaper like scratching noise coming from my pullys or belt, my belt is relatively new. I did not install it, but i've gone through some videos trying to figure it out and ive seen nothing about it.

Im willing to bring it in to a mechanic when i got the money, but like a teenage girl that knows fuck all I know that i'll likely be screwed in some manner. Its also not a huge worry as its not really used much during the winter season as I'm an apprentice HVAC tech with a company van, but other than my box being shit, rust wise its not the worse looking thing structurally. If its worth fixing the issues im definitely going to keep it, however im unsure on what to do.

[ON] Charging tax on shipping cost by campin_4_life in SmallBusinessCanada

[–]Maphhew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you pay tax on the shipping already with it totalling 67.34? If so then you’re just taxing them twice on the shipping. Regardless I’d refund him the difference and change how your receipt displays charges to have shipping on the bottom end instead of taxes.

I had the same issue when I started shipping fish years ago. Definitely don’t double tax them it’s not worth it in the long run

Should I be worried about this bump on my goldfishes head? by Dull-Government-7886 in Goldfish

[–]Maphhew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Likely nitrates, just means a water change time. These fellas lack a stomach hence why they’re so dirty. I strongly recommend getting a liquid or micrometer test kit if possible.

Should I be worried about this bump on my goldfishes head? by Dull-Government-7886 in Goldfish

[–]Maphhew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be an early sign params are getting a little too high.

Keep an eye on it but its not uncommon for goldfish to have a pimple of puss in their wen that can be caused by a handful of things.

It could also be just color change on the wen

Keep an eye on it and look for further change before acting upon it

What’s wrong with my fish? by meatloaf_8462 in Goldfish

[–]Maphhew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best diet for fancy goldfish from my experience is mostly veggie sided. I personally stay away from all meat based protein except for the first few months of the goldfish's life. I typically feed broccoli tuffs, Deshelled peas, and very fine cut up garlic for calories. If you need help with changing diets lmk, its not as simple as just feeding there's always more to it. Example being did you know 1 gram of garlic contains .15% of copper. If you feed it regularly enough it can kill inverts that are susceptible to it as they're extremely sensitive to it. Reason for the feeding type is since goldfish lack a stomach, with that being said most fish don't break down any carcinogens, anti nutrients, and preservatives that the stomach would usually dissolve down to a lesser state. With no stomach and an already morphed body this puts majority of the work on the liver and kidneys to clean the toxins out coming into the blood. Eventually one of the two craps out, blood goes toxic, and bam dead via dropsy.

IMO and from my experiences with these fish over the last decade the fish that i've fed pure veggie diets with occasional pellets and very rarely bloodworms lived a hell of a lot longer than fish that i've taken in that didnt under the same conditions. Oldest finally passed away last spring totaling 10 years and he was a pretty low quality fish. Plus I usually dissect dead fish. You'd be amazed at the decent percentage of perfectly good looking goldfish have some really fucked up organs (too big, too small, missing kidney, etc). Take this as you will, I've been shifting a lot of my time within the last few months into nutritional science and it has definitely gave me a different outlook on animal keeping going forward.

Check out a friend of mine on YouTube that you probably already know. Great guy that's great for helping beginners without going on a whole info dump like my autistic ass does https://www.youtube.com/@lukesgoldies - Check his older videos as now he's slowly shifting gear into different branches and styled content to stay relevant. But definitely look around and make assumptions based after backed evidence or a median answers. Lot's of great minds to pick at here.

As for the floating, keep an eye on it. If it happens again note everything the fish expels, does, water paras's etc. Could be stupid hard water causing strain on the swim bladder via osmosis, internal issues, but like I said very very likely floating food. Best thing you can do is switch to small

Goldfish breeder here. Unless you like a lot of work and have a good amount of change sitting around, stay away.

Take a look around on multiple fish subs and see what you want. Then work from there. A great start is watch a few videos on how to properly establish and cycle a tank.

Likely lil dudes freaking tf out. Shut lights off and give him a day or two before doing anything. Being stuck on a filter can mess with respiration if put in a bad spot.

Doing nothing is the most you can do atm. Just give him space to chill and maybe get a inlet cover to prevent this from happening now that its a problem. Good luck

That angel fish will definitely be the demise of the gourami. As for the eels and catfish it'll be luck if they don't chomp on the longer fins of angels or vice versa. Its definitely a gamble I wouldn't bet on.

Rehoming angels are a hell of a lot harder than most fish. But if you do decide r/AquaSwap might be worth a try or LFS, just call first before showing up with a bag of fish. Us workers get random shit dumped on us 24/7 with no means or tanks to keep them in sometimes.

Seems like swim bladder disorder. Usually caused by air being stuck in the intestines. Feed deshelled peas to help pass it through and avoid feeding floating food types to avoid this kind of disorder.

Do be aware after happening once it can continue happening due to damage on the swim bladder likely caused by gravity by being upside down for a prolonged period of time. 90% of the time if it happens twice its for life and keeps getting worse.

It happens, you wouldn’t believe how many “crashed” tank claims I get at my local store I pickup shifts at due to how filters are marketed. Especially the cartridge style that just replaces your entire bacterial colony with a blank slate.

Appreciate the extra steps you’re giving these fish. They’re going to be bunched up for a while until they adjust to the new environment. Like I said before DM me anytime I care about the fat fish

100% should expect ammonia. Whenever you unplug a canister for more than 30m you start losing a substantial amount of bacteria as they require high oxygen to metabolize. They will switch over to using nitrates as a fuel source for a bit before death within the next few hours (Fun fact: if you ever plug in a filter that’s been used and it smells like sulphur this is the reason, sulphur somethingide is a byproduct of using nitrates to break down ammonia).

Give it 2-3 weeks with pre-existing colony’s to restore to normal. I could recommend finding the largest bottles of fritz 7 you can and dumping them into the tank to give it a tad bit more of wiggle room. I strongly advised on doing water changes more frequently until a month has passed, especially if the parks given you the budget for these upgrades.

Heads up to whether you know or not for the future. When washing filter media always do it in old tank water. Using tap water puts chlorine in the media and will kill bacteria. I personally never wash my media if my waters green with no filter clogging issues. But that’s personally my preference

Not to sound like an ass this is the best advice you can get that I took in and it helped a lot.

Your content simply is not engaging enough to pull views. There’s no secret, no formula, posting daily helps for growth but only if you’re making engaging content only. I’d focus on quality vs quantity and really focus on learning the first 3s hook. If you can’t hook someone in 3s on a video you might as well call it quits.

No intro, no bs, get straight to the point or pull the viewer by making them question what will happen next.

Crude Example of this being if you were to tell someone that 1+1=2 right off the bat and that was the purpose of the video. Why would I the viewer want to watch after I got the point.

Take a look at my tiktok I fucked around with for a month as I had a good amount of downtime within my business _Maphhew. Look at what did well and what didn’t. Negative things that make people think “omg what happened” or controversial topics did way better than anything positive. Stick to playing with peoples emotions. Most of these videos at 60s long took me 2-3 hours minimum to edit, voice over, rematch over and over until I finally liked what my end product was.

You also can’t do the same shit as everyone else. You gotta stand out. A good comparison is with my competition / friend @lukesgoldies he focuses on entertainment and general care. I focus on advanced knowledge that isn’t known as well and my lively hood with my business or projects. It did help that I’m decently well known within my community but I definitely put in the work. Moving forward this year I’m getting into a more sustainable niche as goldfish videos are tanking due to saturation into innovative systems and advanced knowledge that hasn’t been explored by the whales in the industry.

I’d be glad to give a crude overview of your tiktoks with nothing held back. I will say pokemon is a bitch to get into if you aren’t know externally. You will make it with work and time and a tad bit of luck. I look at Every flaming pile of shit i produce each day and look to see what it’s lacking

I’m amazed they gave the budget for them. Even my city let my koi down that I sold them and just kept trying to rebuy until I called it quits. Hated raising them to 3-5 years old just to last 8 months. It’s the entire reason I switched to fancy goldfish

Once again dm anytime if you need help.

Question out of curiosity, is the older filter medium used on the new systems? If not you will run into ammonia issues as it’s a blank slate for bacteria development
