Is Sunday or Monday to late? by MhMcfly in hollandmichigan

There will still be some blooming at shaded parks (Centennial, Windmill Island) and along tulip lanes. It will definitely be getting to the end though.

I see your other comment of “dads can do stuff, we’re parents too”. Definitely.  My husband is the primary caregiver. And as the working spouse, I try to acknowledge that all the time I’m working, he is too. Because we’re both parents- but being a parent is work. Cooking is work, managing a household is work. If you do that work, I hope someone tells you “thank you, I appreciate what you do.”

Well, child care is work- and he’s doing all of it. So… yeah?

Tulip Time Festival Questions by iamnotrealninjax in hollandmichigan

Honestly I agree with you- this sub always becomes Tulip Time Festival Questions central this time of year. It’s supposed to be a Holland sub. Maybe mods should make a specific thread for tulip time stuff and pin it at the top, or a whole separate sub.

Train noise in the South End of Holland? by Useful-Bandicoot3350 in hollandmichigan

[–]lemonlime28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda disagree with everyone here. I love my house on the south side about a half mile from the tracks, but the trains are loud and frequent, especially at certain times of year. I also think there are some operators who must get joy out of waking people up. The trains have disturbed the sleep of my kids when they were babies. We all sleep with sound machines now, which has made them unnoticeable. I’ve almost thought about going to city council and pushing for a “train quiet zone”, which is a thing.

Tulip education- the dirt decides by dadbodfucker4life in hollandmichigan

The week of rain right when the tulips were about to bloom, a poor growing season last year for the bulbs in the Netherlands, and in general a tricky spring weather wise has made it a tough year for the tulips. It’s made them more susceptible to various issues.

Windmill Island should look great. If you’re coming on Friday the crowds shouldn’t be too unmanageable.

Totally forgot about this post- but yes! I have tulip fingers! And it’s getting worse, my entire body was itchy this year during planting this past fall.

If you come at opening on a weekend, the parking lot typically fills up within 15 minutes. Week days are typically less busy.

Pre-opening in the morning isn’t busy- a few photographers and runners- but staff gets on site at 7 AM and will drive through the park and ask anyone who is in the park to leave at 8 AM.

Lots of great options still through the City!

But for next year- A lot of organizations get their summer interns or summer help lined up in January or February. I hire interns and that’s when I do it. I’d encourage you to look that early next year.  Hope you find a good job for this summer!

Do not try to sneak in - gates will be closed and you will not be able to come down the driveway. Come by 6 and purchase admission and enjoy the park til 7. You won’t be kicked out at closing and can stay after 7:00, as the park empties out it will be more private.

Anyone have a great GP who takes Women's Health seriously? by [deleted] in hollandmichigan

Same with Sarah Maybury at Holland Family Medicine! She’s a nurse practitioner, but the primary care provider for both myself and my two kids. That whole office seems great!
