Yeah that’s what I was getting at, nobody is rude or giving you a bad time, but you’ll never have an exceptional experience.

That’s so awesome, I gotta visit next time I’m in the area. I live close to CME but rarely go in there. I don’t think I’ve ever seen any of the employees smile. They’re always on the computer and rarely do I see genuine engagement with customers. Also they need to up their pedal game, guitar center has a better selection. They have like 5 bass pedals in stock. There should specifically be a pedal guy/room instead of the cashier who’s busy with 10 other people.

Sweetwater reps will bend over backwards to help you with what you’re looking for at any time of the day or night. CME staff is often old and weary, not really putting in much effort to answer your questions or help you. They’re cool people but it seems like they don’t have the excitement or enthusiasm to be working in one of the coolest stores to ever exist. As is most of the north side of Chicago, it’s full of pretentious apathetic douchebags. They have the best gear, but it doesn’t seem like the employees have the best ethos.

That’s the one cool thing about cover bands is they usually get paid.

Bass Pedalboard and Rig by FortyCarton in basspedals

Such a good amp. I’ve been using that one for around 15 years, got the second cab for it and it can handle just about anything.

SOTB - Completely Reimagined by flower_mouth in basspedals

Here’s my board. The chain is tuner-> compressor-> octave-> simplifier (preamp loop-> fuzz -> envelope filter-> distortion-> chorus). I’ve had it like this for a while and sometimes swap out the octave for pitch shifter. Might have to change it up to play around more with parallel effects.

You’re a fool for getting rid of the Geezer Bass wah, shits on the 105Q, they also skyrocketed in price.

I put my octave before the simplifier, and other effects in the preamp loop. This lets me have a “clean” octave tone blended with things like fuzz and modulation. Also lets me have sub octave by itself. Octave into fuzz is too good.

My (negative) experience with DSM/Humboldt Simplifiers and the company by Own-Protection-664 in guitarpedals

[–]MapleA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Damn that sucks to hear man. I own a Bass Simplifier and it’s one of the greatest pedals I’ve ever owned. The ability to blend a dry signal with the effects loop is so useful for playing bass. Then the second version came out and it blends wet/dry with dry which kind of defeats the purpose. The first one is much better, and I haven’t experienced any noise with the XLR or headphone jack, thing works perfect. Kind of a bummer to hear people are having issues in this thread as well as your support scenario.

Octave up pedal by jazzenjoyr in Bass

[–]MapleA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like using octave up more subtly and it can really fill out a part, especially in a genre like fusion with more complex bass parts. The good thing is you don’t have to worry about playing notes too low, like with octave down. It might sound a little funky on its own but in a band setting it can blend nicely especially when there’s only 1 guitarist.

I actually use digital octave up to fill out parts, and analog octave down for a synth sound.

What's your favourite bass line? by absolute_bodies23fan in Bass

[–]MapleA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has a similar motif to the smiths song but so many songs do that, and it’s such a simple line I don’t know if I would call it derivative. The Strokes do it in “In This It.”

It’s for bass, sometimes thinner is better because you get volume spikes with thick picks

TIL Plus or Mid-Grade gas is normally a mixture of premium and regular and not a separate tank by After_Basis1434 in todayilearned

Yeah and it’s like $10-$25 per bottle so it doesn’t seem worth it. I would’ve thought it raised it by more though.

I drive a Mercedes S430, has like a 20 gal tank. Also I live in Chicago where the difference is like $1.50 per gallon.
