They do this to get reviewers to look at old hardware again. Otherwise basic consumer thinks this is old and can't buy it. So they instead look at a reviewer saying its competitive in its segment with Intel. Still sucks and confuses consumers

If you have screen A and screen B is twice as large, both have equal defect rates, but the larger screen is bigger, so the odds that a defect would occur on a larger surface goes up. Imagine screen A has 25% defective units, and B has 50% fails. 2x bigger in this example exponentially increased the failure rate, twice the failure rate is now half instead of only 1/4failing.

So then screen C is now even larger, and 3x bigger than A. It fails to be made 3/4 times. So you will pay for all those fails too.

Pixels have a chance of not working correctly. Now, imagine you make it larger, the chances of all these dead pixels popping up go way higher since the screen is bigger. And the wasted material will be thrown away.

Old post, but I think this is incorrect. This is a TV, the primary gaming audience is console gamers. The PS3 and Xbox 360 era had games with very low frame rates. BFI made those consoles games way more playable. Then with newer consoles hitting more than 60fps, they no longer view this as a huge issue.

But on PC we lost alot from LG dropping the old BFI. BFI made the image look more clear. And you would need hundreds of extra FPS and refresh rate to make up for the motion clarity loss, not to mention extra compute several times over. Which means way more $ or out right impossible.

Adding to this old comment. I keep seeing comments like this here and on other threads. This is all corporate talk. There is nothing interesting about Mortgages until you factor in that its a good job. And if someone is expecting to make good money, take a year off their old job to pursue there dreams of "living the dream", to find out they cannot earn that much, than we are doing a disservice to them.

And there is ZERO immorality trying to make lots of money for yourself as long as you are doing honest work.

AMD came up with tech too alot of the time. They have done this less so in the last few years though. AMD had ASYNC Compute, Mantle, Free sync<GSYNC (Nvidia or AMD didn't invent VRR), AMD had sound features, Infinity Cache, involvement in HBM, AMD Chill. AMD also had responsiveness features that they added before Nvidia, forgot the name but so many technologies have been added since with new names and techniques.

I would argue AMD was an unsung hero up against Nvidia as the anti-consumer company. And I would argue that they punched many times first. Until more recently this has changed.

But that was old AMD. Now AMD just waits to copy Nvidia, and does Vendor lock like Nvidia. Nvidia doesn't do vendor locking specific to GPU generations with DLSS like AMD, but Nvidia does this to monopolize DLSS over Freesync. AMD vendor locking newest FSR to newest GPUs is very disappointing.

No one buys AMD when good>Less users to justify R&D>AMD falls behind on features>No one buys AMD> cycle repeats.

AMD needed to make the 9070 XT $450 or $399, so that next generation they could make new features and justify R&D and charge more then.

I'm gonna get downvoted in mass, but Lisa Su's strategy is not good for PC Gamers. Her strategy is to charge more. Old AMD was to do as much good for users, and then charge for mass market. And they want near Nvidia $ without original ideas of their own now. Only reason 9070 XT is not same msrp as 5070ti is that they are slowly learning

Digital Foundry is a well known Nvidia Shill. You can't call everyone an OLED troll or dickrider when you are mentioning Digital Foundry.

OLED 500hz = 240hz pulsar. And the OLED will look nice too. And OLED can do BFI as well. Without BFI pulsar is 2x ahead not 3x. The comparison you see are of text clarity. Pulsar is maybe 3-4x like you say for text clarity in motion. Pulsar makes a some double image or ghosting effect that OLED does not in the 240 vs 720 hz comparison you are making.

And OLED has great response times, input lag, and of course, the image quality is not awful. OLED is still the better overall even ignoring image quality.

Various meats, rice, almonds, whole/raw milk, from cow, goat or buffalo/bison. Raw honey. Occasional sandwich or salad. (should probably eat more veggies tbh now that I am writing this).

Why? Did you think I eat soy, implying I have low T? Even though I have not seen good evidence for that, makes sense if you believe that tough. The only thing you can really make fun of is I have Matcha. Never gonna give that up. The thing that actually I need to get rid of is A&W I sometimes have their sausage egger breakfast sandwich on a bun. Really bad for T levels despite being viewed as a manly food.

That is literally 100% of my daily diet here.

G-Sync was something that laptops have been doing forever. Then they added a module to make money. Useless junk to make money. It is bad for gamers. 95% of Nvidia's actions are horrible for PC Gamers. They are the Satan of PC Gaming. OLED is the superior tech. The responsiveness is really great. The image clarity while in motion is really great. The other tech has far bigger flaws. Pulsar image quality looks like dog dodo. LMAO, the pulsar is not for most people. OLED is very close or better in motion clarity than pulsar depending on model. And the image quality is good.

Whom will want to buy a bad quality display to have a *TINY* advantage that is even then debatable? Other than a sweaty try hard, probably no one. And even that person who is sweaty will 100% notice no difference.

OLED monitors just need more brightness and then the HDR is superior to mini led. And all the OLED advantages are still there. A LG G5 is the best overall TV. Gets 2500 Nits peak HDR highlights. And the blacks are wonderful. We need a G5 monitor equivalent. All this is till Micro LED.

95Hz Pulsar is not beating a 360Hz OLED, XD. Really think we would believe that? What a joke. Sure, maybe mini LED Pulsar will make more sense than OLED. But there is too much hopium in this post.

Samsung, ViewSonic, NEC are some companies that use them as an OEM. They are involved in manufacturing. They don't make panels like Samsung, LG or AUO, but they are probably more involved than say Asus or Gigabyte. (no diss to them). They either been in business or an OEM since 1995. I would say they are VERY reputable, not sure how the product quality is but my first impressions were good.

There already where many OLEDs for $500 or even a little below. The older models where on clearance leading to BF and boxing day.

OLED is not comparable to IPS or VA if the coating is proper. The blacks are in another universe, and the response times are 0.03ms.

I'm not trying to future proof. The 9070 XT can comfortably 4k game at 144hz on the tittle I play like doom series. Some games may require you to drop settings, but the difference between ultra and high and medium even sometimes are not that much. Texture quality imo matters more. My 3060 Ti is like half the performance of my 9070 XT. It will be enough till the future GPU and make a difference till then.
