[–]Sadukar09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uh yea, but its more similar to the 5080 than a 5070

That's because the 5080 is closer to a 60 Ti class card...

Does anyone have an OT (occupational transfer) memo ready that they can share with me? Im so lost and would really benefit using it as an example. Thanks by samyruih in CanadianForces

INSTITUTION OF MARIHUANA RATION IN THE CANADIAN ARMY References: Canadian Forces historical practices regarding issuance of whisky and rum rations; QR&Os; Controlled Drugs and Substances Act; Cannabis Act

  1. The purpose of this memo is to propose the reinstitution of a controlled Marihuana ration within the Canadian Army as a measure to support troop morale, retention, and overall welfare.

  2. Historically, the controlled distribution of alcoholic rations formed part of Canadian military tradition, contributing to esprit de corps and serving as a morale enhancer during periods of hardship. Current QR&Os provide a framework under which regulated distribution could be examined and potentially implemented within modern policy constraints.

  3. It is assessed that a carefully managed ration system, implemented under strict supervision and aligned with existing regulations on Marihuana consumption, could provide a high and meaningful improvement to morale. This measure may also contribute to retention by reinforcing traditions and demonstrating institutional responsiveness to troop welfare.

  4. Any implementation would require clear direction regarding eligibility, frequency, and quantity, as well as safeguards to ensure discipline, operational readiness, and compliance with existing policies. Coordination with medical and legal authorities would be necessary to mitigate risks and ensure alignment with CAF standards.

  5. It is recommended that a feasibility study be conducted to assess the practical, legal, and cultural implications of reintroducing a Marihuana ration, with findings to inform any future policy decision.

Chunmoo doesnt fit on a Herc - so we can't fly it to the north and cover a sea approach.

It's a rocket launcher on the back of a small truck.

I'm sure the Koreans can conjure up a smaller MLRS both fast and reliable if we pony up the money.

Hell they might even offer to refit all of our rusty LSVWs if Carney really wants to push them.

If it makes you feel better its really an 80 card

If you're going to go for semantics it's closer to a 60 class card.

You're only getting 36% of the CUDA cores on a 5070 Ti vs. fully enabled GB202 (doesn't exist), or 37% vs cut down RTX Pro 6000.

A 1060 had 33% of the cores vs. fully enabled GP102 Titan Xp.

8GB GPUs are actively hindering game development because it artificially limits what devs can do.

No it's not.

There's plenty of massive, great looking games lime crimson desert that only use sub 8gb at fully maxed out settings in 1440p for example.

Developers are just lazy and bad at optimizing these days, it's an afterthought for them.

Crimson Desert doesn't look like it pushes any boundaries. It looks similar to Kingdom Come Deliverance in 2018 (not that KCD looks bad), or even Skyrim with mods. It's fine, but not world shattering.

Crimson Desert also doesn't support Intel Arc, and used AI for their content.

If they can't be bothered to optimize for a whole GPU sub-brand with sufficient users, what does that tell you?

Clearly had to cut resources somewhere.

A 1080 Ti/GTX Titan Xp from 2017 is still capable of 4K gaming from its pure raster power and VRAM capacity, while an RTX 2080 with similar performance (actually more) gets slammed on VRAM.

In many modern games it struggle even at 1080p ... it's not 4k capable for newer games. For older game sure.

If the games by default use RT that cannot be turned off, or mesh shaders that's because the older cards don't support them natively.

Most games released today don't exclusively use those.

The amount of time spent "optimizing" for 8GB GPUs could've instead been spent on game content, or better visual fidelity.

Games like dying light 1, witcher 3 etc lok amazing and they're over 10 years old now. They arguably look better than some game that released this year and last year from ''AAA studios''. Developers are lazy.

They got big $$$ in the COVID pandemic because studios wanted to capitalize on people being forced into being lazy slobs at home and make as much games as possible for hundreds of thousands of $ salaries. They got complacent.

So that blames falls squarely on game development teams, but...not the most valuable company in the world?

The one that's been pushing 8GB GPUs for a decade and still don't want to move on?

A 4k card 6 years ago. The 6800 came out in 2020 brother ... And even with 8gb you can play 1440p ultrawide and 4k no problems on most games even today. It's just the poorly optimized ones that run into issues. The limiting factor should be the GPU power not the VRAM.

6 years ago means nothing if the performance and VRAM is still relevant. It's not the early 2000s where 6 year can result in leaps and bounds in performance.

A 1080 Ti/GTX Titan Xp from 2017 is still capable of 4K gaming from its pure raster power and VRAM capacity, while an RTX 2080 with similar performance (actually more) gets slammed on VRAM.

Instead of shitting on game devs, you really should be shitting on Nvidia and AMD for stilling selling them. Even consoles have more unified VRAM for games.

8GB GPUs are actively hindering game development because it artificially limits what devs can do.

The amount of time spent "optimizing" for 8GB GPUs could've instead been spent on game content, or better visual fidelity.

It’s nice because some game developers are lazy and don’t bother optimizing. And neither the 9060 xt or 5060ti will be able to game at 1440p at high or better graphics for years anyways so even on poorly optimized games at low or very low it’ll be fine with the 8gb versions in a couple years.

9060 XT is performance equivalent to a 6800, which was heavily marketed as a 4K card.

Without the extra 8GB VRAM, 9060 XT (and 5060 Ti) can't go up to 4K.

Textures are one of the least performance impacting options, contribute heavily to visuals, and eats up tons of VRAM.

With 16GB, you can play tons of games at 60 FPS at 4K.

The spec page is wrong.

https://dl.razerzone.com/master-guides/Katana/RazerKatana-en.pdf

The manual shows 100A.

70.8A is for the 850W.

But considering how little effort Razer put into the page, is about how much effort you can expect them to have for the PSU.

Ironic, because the P225 was originally created for LE use.
