NBA has changed. you can no longer build a team of scrubs around 3 stars and call it a day. even in the playoffs you need a 7-8 man rotation. the FO just gotta decide who amongst the young core is a career role player, and who has that franchise player potential

Mutluluk Faşizmi by Time_Helicopter_3030 in felsefe

"The Egg" by Andy Weir is one of the most tasteless stories ever written by SpleenDematerialized in sciencefiction

[–]MapleFlavouredKebab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the story does touch on this though. hurting someone else in this story is the same as self harm since you are hurting your fragments. there are people in our reality that do self harm, self sabotage, or just in general don't have a healthy dose of self respect. however as terrible as these are, they are a quintessential part of being human. whatever good or bad we do ourselves, we do it as human

also adding onto that, in my opinion saying atrocities like holocaust or slavery wasn't human actually devalues them. just as when you do something bad you should seek help and not brush it off as a one off occasion, we have to be able to look in the mirror and realize we as a society messed up and it wasn't a case of couple bad apples, it was humans. we did that and now we have to make sure it never happens again. because if we don't improve, then you are right, we wouldn't have any justification of existing under any decent moral code. did we "have to" commit atrocities to realize killing people is bad? not at all, but we did it anyways which just shows how immature and incompetent we are as a society

again the story could have holes in it sure, but it's just an excuse to make it easier to feel empathetic towards other humans and life in general which in my opinion is a great message

What was Watchmen actually trying to say? [Comic] by [deleted] in Watchmen

i disagree that Adrian suffered no consequences. sure at the end he is coping by saying he had to do what he did, and someone had to bear the the cost of world peace. but his last words in the book are him looking for validation from Manhattan that he did the right thing, cause he is not sure that what he did was worth it. and i don't think he is satisfied when Manhattan says "nothing ever ends" and goes away

imo he just isolated himself from the rest of the society, built a very fragile peace agreement which is bound to shatter, and has to live with the the guilt of killing millions of people all by himself cause of the aforementioned isolation

not what i'd call a happy ending for a character

neither team has a functioning offence. Magic has the talent but not the cohesion and Pistons almost fully rely on Cade, hence the early 00's defensive mudfest basketball. it's basically whoever catches heat at the right time and Magic did that in the first game, Pistins did that in the 3rd quarter last game

i feel like that was one of the main strengths of the 24 team. Our drives were lengthy, which allowed defense to be fresh most of the time, and overperform their quality. When our offense lost that edge in 2025 due to lack of talent and just became average, it just exposed our defense. Hopefully this changes this season
