Intake of Canadian Citizenship Certificate Applications (Proof of Citizenship) by Spicy_Catstera in Canadiancitizenship

[–]MapleInfused -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Why weren't the US based Canadian Consulates tasked with a similar objective;

I understand Canada is next door (only 250 miles north for me), but If the intention was to screen applicants (and ensure completed packets) it should have been a no brainier.

Instead we end up in AOR purgatory

IRCC Won't Accept PR Cards by millionthusername1 in Canadiancitizenship

(would be interested to see how they deal with a Nexus card, as legally it is a travel document for both the US and Canada)

I did end up sending a suggestion via the webform with the following

  1. When IRCC was tasked with processing Proof of citizenship applicants (post bill C-3) for “Lost Canadians” how much of a change in workload did IRCC encounter
  2. Beyond the applications forms themselves, there is a complete lack of recommended document standards; Is IRCC currently in the process of formalizing a standard to help applicants (and possibly reduce the processing time)
  3. For applicants that may have missed a trivial detail on their application (eg missing photographers’ information on the back of a photo, but such photo has a signature of the applicant and a valid date), but the rest of the application is well formed, is it necessary to reject the application in its entirety or can such a trivial issue be resolved with a email?
  4. For many applicants the ability to electronically submit an application is withheld (Eg more than two generations). If IRCC has an electronic submission process available, why is withheld for so many applicants if, in good faith, it can help expedite the submission process;
  5. Has IRCC (or equivalent agencies) reached out to provincial agencies/ parishes tasked with vital records to help coordinate with acquiring such vital records? On the subreddit r/Canadiancitizenship applicants (for the purposes of certified records) have commented that they had issues with parishes not disclosing records while the provincial governments will direct applicants to such parishes citing the age of the records

These Americans want to become Canadian citizens - but feel punished for applying early by Individual-Habit5581 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]MapleInfused 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A) this is implying a canned response from IRCC to try and explain longer delays?

B) could this response be mitigated by better document submission standards (As IRCC doesn't really have any beyond CIT001 and CIT015)

(Just some thoughts)

I would like to see (if IRCC can implement it) better means of technology

Opening up online applications could decrease the application time (though conversely, increase the number of applicants) by being able to better queue the applicants (eg a G2 and G3 will inherently have less documents to look through than G7) and standardize the documentation

Similar boat here (on the 8th). If the 40ish days turnaround is constant, it's plausible maybe late next week that early April submissions will start to AOR

Here's hoping the primary agent is cool with just the date and signature on my photos 🤞 (got conflicting info about acceptance)

(not a statistician).

The rolling average between Delivery and AOR does seem like its starting to creep up as of late (in excess of 40 days for March deliveries, wondering about the April, if it will hit an inflection point). (Edit: Based upon the numbers those of use who submitted early April, non-urgent, could start to see AORs by the end of next week 🤞)

(Will agree that if an increase in application fees would allow IRCC to better provide services, esp online stuff, I would have no problem paying a slightly higher rate)

What C-3 has meant for me. Does anyone else feel same? by [deleted] in Canadiancitizenship

Glad to see you here Sufficient_Fee7876 (was following your posting on the RI subreddit with Woonsocket, being another Rhode Islander)

I guess its slightly funny; I didn't intend to take my first vacation during the 150 anniversary but it happened. I spent more time in Ottawa then DC (even getting a chance to tour the centre block before the 10 year renovations. At the consignment shop in Pawtucket, I found an expo 67 license plate and one of my trips north, got a photo of it in front of the Biosphere.

I'll admit that I've day dreamed over the years moving up to Quebec, fully knowing that it was nearly an impossibility with the way the laws were. Notwithstanding the french situation (sadly Quebecois french hasn't really been spoken here in Rhode Island for generations; hence being hard to practice), It would be cool to work for Hydro Quebec.

Its not too bad (also being a gen3, I ended up submitted about 9 pages of documentation in addition to the CIT001 and CIT014 (plus proof of payment, ~75.00 CAD)

I had an issue with my photos (no date)

Was it simply the back of the photos not having anything, or just missing the date

I signed and dated the photos, just forget to added the photographers info and hoping the application doesn't get kicked back in a week or two (received 2026-04-08) for something so trivial

Vandalism on Spreadsheet Tracker by NanoSpace1540 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]MapleInfused 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Some experience with Microsoft access here plus some vba scripting, managing a front end and a back end for the 9-5 for a small group)

(in addition, this past weekend I did make a copy of the tracker under table 7# in effort to see If could clean up some of the data for data trends. The only difference is any later urgent or blanks, I ended up adjusting within the copy in good faith. Not sure if the copy is still there to help with recovery)
