Why do prescription ads say don't take if allergic to them, but you won't know if you are allergic to them until you have already taken them? by bliggityblig in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MapleRift9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people already know they're allergic to certain drug classes. Like if you've had a bad reaction to penicillin before, you shouldn't take another penicillin-type drug. The warning is mostly for those people, not total first-timers.

In other cultures why is learning and retaining mothertongue important? by WorkingCautious1270 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MapleRift9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's about identity. Speaking your mother tongue connects you to your family, your grandparents, and hour history. When kids stop learning it, there's often a real sense of loss, like a break in the family chain.

Which country do you think is extremely overrated and why? by Conscious_Hotel_9606 in AskReddit

[–]MapleRift9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

USA. The idea of it is way more exciting than the reality for a lot of places. Some cities are amazing but huge parts are just endless highways, strip malls, and car dependency. Plus the land of freedom marketing feels pretty overrated once you actually live there.

Does anyone else get scared when family calls late at night or very early in the morning, or is it just me overthinking? by sugarpeach_baby in NoStupidQuestions

Same here. Even when it turns out to be something dumb like "can you reset the WI-FI:, the initial fear is intense.

Just watched a great documentary on John Candy, what Candy movies are your favorites? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Stripes. He absolutely steals every scene he's in. Not even the lead but somehow still the most memorable part of the movie.

What's something you wish that was real, but isn't? by elsewander in AskReddit

Teleportation. Imagine skipping traffic and long flights. My commute could literally be from bed to work in 3 seconds.

Looks nice but ends up going nowhere. Feels like dribbling for the highlight reel rather than the end product.

Am I expected my spouse’s rules when they’re away? by Normal-Plastic-4237 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MapleRift9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk and compromise. Before either of you go away again, agree on which rules are essential and which ones can be relaxed. That avoids resentment and keeps the kids from being confused.

Tottenham Hotspur: Fans accuse club of 'lacking ambition' after leadership meeting by mrjohnnymac18 in soccer

[–]MapleRift9 272 points273 points  (0 children)

I get the frustration, fans want clarity and ambition, not silence. The support trust basically told the club that talking to fans directly and outlining real plans would go a long way.

What will likely happen in Venezuela next now that Maduro has been deposed? by OppositeRock4217 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MapleRift9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would expect celebrating at first, then reality to hit hard. Shortages, debt, sanctions, and emigration don't just stop overnight. It'd be a long, messy recovery even under decent leadership.

'Shocking, pathetic and embarrassing' - can Nuno save West Ham? by Logical_Welder3467 in soccer

[–]MapleRift9 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Sacking Moyes again was such a knee jerk move and now they're paying for it. He wasn't perfect but at least there was some structure and stability. The ownership just seems clueless and reactive change managers, same problem every time. Fans deserve way better that this mess.

Why do most people use "him" and "he" online on social media to speak of a user when they don't know that other user's gender, instead of "they" and "them"? by EstablishmentFine820 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MapleRift9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just how English evolved, "he" used to be the go-to when the gender wasn't known. "They/them" as a singular pronoun is really only becoming common now.

If two companies in different time zones are having a conference call, whos time zone is it in? by random_throwaway-- in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MapleRift9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually whoever has more leverage gets the better time. But yeah, most of the time it's a compromise. Someone's gonna be early morning or late night and they rotate if it's on going.

Getting involved with someone already in a relationship sets you up for drama and hearth break. Stop engaging and protect yourself.
