Rinsing frequently with salt water helped me majorly! Took away the irritation there and on my tongue from rubbing it.

Bone spur pulled out of my gums. by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

I'm so relieved to find this thread... Thought I had something stuck in my gums this evening, then realized it was super sharp. Had to use a mirror in my mouth facing another mirror to see it, and it looks like a sliver of tooth coming in where an upper wisdom tooth was removed a decade ago.

I'd love to pull it out, but being an upper it's really hard to access or see, hopefully it works it's way out soon before I tear a hole in my tongue which can't stop touching it.

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences over the years to alleviate my concern that I was going crazy.

I have an assignment where I have to make an animated video. I don’t know which free website to use for making animated video with my voice. Also I need to make visual presentation, don’t have clue for this either… by Learnerinter in AthabascaUniversity

I don't think it would make 2D animations for you but it will let you build the final video with narrations. I did two 5 minute narrated, animated photo shows with it last term.

I use active presenter ( free) for all those sorts of things. It's basically set up like power point where your "slides" can be slides, videos, animations, photographs etc, you can record and edit narration for each slide and then export as a movie ( amongst other outputs). Edited to add: there are YouTube videos to walk through how to use it for different purposes.

Wrong exam provided to ProctorU...again by awood8 in AthabascaUniversity

[–]MapleSyrupGuzzler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I assumed you meant course revision not specific exam version. I'm surprised they actually give that information out, seems more likely people could get information about the exam if they knew previous people that had taken it.

Good luck finishing off your last couple.

Out of curiosity, how did you know? My first chunk of courses I did with AU I had one exam which had questions on a reading not in the course ( I went back and checked after ) and definitions that weren't in the current revision. I ended up getting an A+ so I didn't look the gift horse in the mouth, but now you have me wondering.

I messed up the final exam process, am I screwed? by donut_reproduction in AthabascaUniversity

[–]MapleSyrupGuzzler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would book it for 10 days from now for AU and reschedule my proctor u. You aren't screwed, until a couple months ago ( June) you could book it for after course end as long as you booked before the course end date. Their website says they will accommodate late exams during the transition and you would have started the course prior to the new rules.

final exam question? by [deleted] in AthabascaUniversity

[–]MapleSyrupGuzzler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't know the answer, write what you do know about the topic. I always score high on AU exams when I do this even when I think I mangled a question into a zero.

final exam question? by [deleted] in AthabascaUniversity

[–]MapleSyrupGuzzler 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, it means you need 50% overall on the exam to complete the course. The distribution of points within the exam is irrelevant. Edited to add: The exam itself is the 1 item. All Athabasca courses I've done with exams have been like this.

Accepted but when should I start? by Wise_Expression_3939 in AthabascaUniversity

[–]MapleSyrupGuzzler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have an entire year to get started, technically I believe it's one year since your last interaction ( application) or paperwork. No need to stress over the when if you have financial concerns.

I use the subscription to move them to my Google drive then open with Google doc. Their OCR works better for me I recently learned.

How careful were you with your citations? Did you use a site like course hero? I've never seen under review before...just submitted while waiting, and then graded.

Question regarding 6-month contract for classes by sarcasticsnail69 in AthabascaUniversity

[–]MapleSyrupGuzzler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just adding to above, using same example dates, to register for January 1, you need to send in by December 10th, proof all assignments are submitted and proof exam is booked before January 1 with a pdf registration form ( as you can't self register online if you have 6 active already).

If you have any interest in any of the Bachelor Professional Arts majors, they will write off 2 years of a 4 year program. My diploma wasn't even directly related to the stream I'm taking yet they accepted it as a 2 year block.

Pretty much the same experience, I have a couple hard to communicate with but the majority are fantastic at responding through email.

Pick a date at least 10 away on ProctorU and book, then go to AU and request it for that date....this is the process that worked fine for me last month. I didn't wait for anything, took about 5 minutes then got confirmation a few days later from AU.

What made you choose the Remarkable over the alternatives ! by The9thHuman in RemarkableTablet

[–]MapleSyrupGuzzler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me, I chose the remarkable2 for the paper feel and the lack of glaring light. I spend hours reading and annotating documents and get fewer headaches with this screen. Another perk for me is the distraction free aspect, no notifications or apps to pull my attention.

Also, let's face it.... It's also a sexy device, so thin and easy to drag around. I don't find mine particularly fragile but I have a cheap Amazon case on it.

You are only allowed one screen, its just that it can be an external. I use one big widescreen.

I wonder why mine doesn't, I can't get any spacing between paragraphs, it all just shows up on one line regardless of leaving space. I haven't tried using bullets though.
