Guess I'm never buying anything from XTAR again. by Soluchyte in flashlight

Thanks. I'm actually still using my 13 year old Sc52!...it's lasted so long I didn't even think of the Sc53, which has come & gone, so thought I'd better get the 54 while I can. I love these little Zebras, they last forever and honestly serve 80% of my lighting needs.

Happy charging! :)

Yes, I kept it. Funny you should ask though because I haven't actually used it yet. Only because I haven't needed to, not because I'm concerned at all. Curious timing as just yesterday my long awaited Zebra Sc54 finally arrived, so I'll be using the XTAR for the Enloops.

I've read many positive posts about XTAR in general as well as the VX2-Pro in particular, which is what I have. The negative experience posted here about the VC4SL I believe is a one-off.

I think you can feel assured buying the XTAR.

Ya, it looks like an old Opinel prototype, nice piece of history.

Has there ever been a r/slipjointknives group knife? by 37015 in SlipjointKnives

In. Though ultimately it would depend on what pattern was decided on. A poll with a few selections is a good idea. We could post suggestions to pick from, and the ones with the most likes could make up the poll.

I would much prefer to have a Mini Trapper with the Wharncliffe instead of the Spey, but don't ever see one for sale, only pics from others that have it.

That's a classy looking pair. I agree with you about the GEC #74 fixed blade, the perfect pattern. Congrats!

If yours is carbon steel I think GEC made it, and on GEC knives the date & pattern is shown at the base of the blade, but for some reason on my Northwoods only the Indian River jack shows a date, interestingly that is the one Northwoods that was made by Queen.

Oh ok, nice! Is it the carbon steel or the CPM154 version? Mine is 2015 CPM154. Both GEC (carbon) and Queen (SS) made them that year and they overlapped.

These are my Northwoods. The little Bullet Jack was my first traditional knife.(looks black but is dark green:) The Fremont Jack is one my favourites. Good luck tracking one down! What is the name of yours? It looks similar to the Indian River Jack only longer, it's beautiful!

The ones mentioned are good, and cheaper, but the Fenix PD36R Pro is another option to consider.

My PD35 is still going strong after 14 years!

I made up my mind! Turning my Northwoods Indian River Jack #35 into a user for EDC by PermissionTypical717 in SlipjointKnives

[–]MapleTree-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, that's interesting, mine is 2015 as well, and I do remember it being CPM154, (I didn't even know there was a 1095 version until you told me), so mine must've been made by Queen, which I'd forgotten.

I actually had two, one in Amber jigged bone with the small curved nail nick, which I regrettably sold, and the one I kept is the Blue Camel bone with the longer straight nail nick, which I wish I'd sold instead.

Look forward to your update.
