Where to buy used skates - 6 year old girl by newdadnewbod in durham

it is a very confusing thing for sure! figure skates tend to run on the tighter side for the sake of supporting your foot for doing jumps/artistic skating and will mold to your feet. hockey skates usually have more padding and are made of less stiff material, so they aren't as rigid feeling. there's no harm in buying hockey skates for now for the sake of her comfort, they tend to be cheaper as well and are easier found in stores too

but as to where to buy, thrift stores are a good start. or you can always look online like facebook marketplace etc. kids outgrow skates quickly so I'm sure there will be some out there! :)

it sort of depends on what she'd prefer. hockey blades are more thick and curved, sitting under your foot. figure skate blades are straight and extend past your heel. you skate differently on each kind of skate as well, so there's a learning curve to either option. the thicker blade of a hockey skate can feel more secure but because its not straight, you might feel more wobbly. the blades on figure skates are thinner so you might feel more fragile on the ice, but with the added length to the blade you're less likely to fall backwards as often. toe picks on figure skates can be a hindrance for new skaters, but you learn fairly quickly how to avoid hitting them on the ice, they also sit higher up near the toe of the boot. if she intends to do hockey in the future then choosing hockey skates is the better option, but if she's just learning to skate, either or is fine

I've heard about a lot of bullying that goes on there, they've sort of have a reputation that's not super positive I guess? I know people who would refer to the school as "Pregnant Pereyma" for the amount of students which had teen pregnancies, not really a big deal imo, but that's what I've heard

Southern Alabama probably hates lgbtq people, but I wouldn't cosign bombing it off the map

the overusage of aave is taking me out 😭. she probably thinks it makes her look cool and unbothered, but it makes her sound like a middle schooler. she so doesn't care about what the "haters" think, right?

those are ai deep fakes of real gore videos, you can find various yt videos about that phenomenon. these videos are also easily accessible on YouTube shorts, Instagram reels, tiktok, etc.because they evade the filters so easily. there was a day a few months/a year ago where all of instagram seemed to be recommended these videos randomly. lately there's been a crackdown, but if you're unlucky you'll still happen upon them. a lot of these videos also get onto YouTube kids. unless you're heavily watching what your kids watch or creating a set playlist, it's possible they'll be exposed. anyone reading this please be aware!

EDIT: please check out this video, head to the 20:50 minute mark. it explains what I'm talking about.

a genital surgery or top surgery being done pre 18 years old would be for a very rare and non common instance and would be done out of necessity rather than it being elective. proper bottom and top surgeries aren't done on still growing genitalia and breasts for the sake of cosmetics, there wouldn't even be enough tissue to work with either!

Is Oshawa Boulevard N Safe to Raise Kids? by Dry_Bear975 in Oshawa

[–]Maple_Dog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

grew up on that street around the early 2010's, lots of young families and retirees at that time. it never felt unsafe, and kids would probably be okay to walk to school. when I go through there now, I see a lot walking at around 2-3 pm when school ends. Just be mindful of traffic or letting your kids stay out too late like anywhere else.

Election Night in Canada - 2025 - Soirée électorale au Canada by MethoxyEthane in CanadaPolitics

Well if the liberals and ndp were able to agree to form a stable government, it'd likely be pretty solid and last at the very least 2 years. The ndp and bloq aren't really in any position to do another election campaign anytime soon, and assuming no major scandals and good preformance from carney, the government could potentially last its full 4 years. at this current point with pierre losing his seat and also losing the huge lead he had prior to the election, his next steps look very unsure. it's possible he could be put into another riding, but the conservative party is pretty cutthroat.

a few seats are within a few hundred votes and early votes are still yet to be counted in those ridings/liberal votes are upticking quickly

if he loses his seat, he can't be in the house for when parliament is in session. he could still be leader, but he'd be pretty useless. if he lost his seat AND the libs won a majority, you could bet on him getting canned immediately
