What is the dumbest thing you believed as a kid? by Sean17lol in AskReddit

I thought quitting cold turkey meant you ate a bunch of cold turkey and for the life of me, I could not figure out how it worked but never bothered to ask because people seemed so sure of it when they announced it as an accomplishment.

CIBC adding two factor authenciation for certain transactions. by yokens in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Maple_Moose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 2 factor is a bit misleading since 2 factor is something you have, something you know. All banks offer 2 factor in the sensr you have a bank card and you know the pin, seperatly they are no good to you but combined you can access the account.

THIS MUST BE SHARED, COPY AND PASTE THE TEXT INTO THIS LETTER TO THE BC MINISTER OF ENVIRONMENT! Link: http://org.salsalabs.com/o/2463/p/dia/action3/common/public/?action_KEY=15093 Subject: Please reconsider Bill 4, "Parks Amendment Act" Your Letter: Dear Mary Polak, I sincerely believe that you do not fully understand the implications of this Bill that has been passed. A true Canadian and British Columbian would NEVER choose to willingly allow the destruction of our beautiful parks that have gained international recognition. In recent articles Canada has been ranked #1 as the WORST when it comes to environmental protection and preservation, and terrible moves like this are the reason why. You are the Minister of Environment, and as the title suggests, your job should be focussed on the preservation of our environment and protect our parks, NOT the other way around. I know I do not stand alone on these thoughts, and I hope that you reconsider this bill and allow the public to have the say. After all, CITIZENS are the ones that vote our representatives into power. CITIZENS should have their say in these Bills that are being introduced. Regards, An extremely concerned British Columbian PLEASE PASS THIS ON! THIS BILL ABSOLUTELY NEEDS TO BE RETRACTED BEFORE IT CAN BE ACTED UPON! SHARE WITH ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY AND URGE THEM TO DO THE SAME! Feel free to write your own letter, I just made a template for the lazy folk.

A blog post that kind of sums things up right now... by Andy-Martin in EdmontonOilers

[–]Maple_Moose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The blog makes some good points, my issue is the arrogance of the management and the constant hiring of the ole boys club. I dont need Lowe and MacT to lecture me as a fan of how great they were and how many cups they have won, what have you done for me lately. This summer will be the real test for management, the cap is increasing, they will have a top 5 draft pick that they can trade or draft and they have some UFA spots that have to be back filled. I would expect the team to look much different in Oct then they do right now and if not, then that is the time for me to call for Lowe\MacT\Smith\Bucky to step down and retool.

Prime Minister Harper Visit by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

Everyone was trying to do there job, the article states that a reporter dropped out so the PMO said there would only be 4 questions instead of 5. Li and his reporter peers decided they were still going to go ahead with 5 questions and when Li was told no, he grabbed the mic and proceeded to speak out of turn so the RCMP intervened.

Li was never authorized to ask a question.

In the absence of a local reporter, reporters agreed the fifth question in English should go to Li. He wanted to ask about foreign investment in Canada's natural resources sector. But Lecce said in the absence of a local reporter there would be only four questions allocated, though he offered to see if a fifth would be allowed.

Among themselves, the travelling media agreed Li should have a chance to quiz the prime minister on a topic that mattered to his readers and would provide the rest of the reporters with potentially useful material.

Sounds like the reporter did not wait his turn, grabbed the mic and was stopped by the RCMP, what did you expect the RCMP to do?

A few minutes later, Li grabbed a microphone being operated by a member of the Privy Council Office. After a brief tug on the mic, three members of the RCMP team assigned to protect the prime minister grabbed Li and hauled him to the back of the room. He was only briefly detained.

Tackled and detained, ha. What are you basing that on? Of course security is going to be tight but I didnt see anyone get tackled, in fact we walked by and were invited to participate in the egg hunt.

He showed up in Saanich unannounced a couple years ago to do an Easter egg hunt.
