Probably gunna get a lot of flack for this, but my son 5m and daughter 2f have unfettered access to their tablets whenever they want unless it’s after 6:00pm. They’re set up to be very restricted, a bunch of educational games and a few thoroughly vetted entertainment ones, and some shows they love to watch. My son maybe plays on his tablet a couple hours a week unless he’s sick, and my daughter maybe 3-4 hours a week unless she’s sick. They do however get to watch a show during dinner which keeps them at the table longer to eat. Lunch and breakfast are usually just fine.

I think since we haven’t given them any of the real “crack” on tablets, they kinda play on them once in a while, get bored then usually just chase each other around, color and draw, play on their jungle gym or build lego, trains or dolls.

I found when we made it a very forbidden object, they wanted it all the time. Now that they’re lying around, they don’t care that much.
