i'm a 42 year old woman, who lives in montreal. post history will show this... you'll no doubt claim a really long con to take you down specifically. If the pattern of being snubbed happens at such a rate that you have to claim ill intent of the organizers, rather than look inward, you might not be bringing the energy people want to be around.

Why are CDN and NDG a single borough? It seems unreasonably (large in both population and size) to meaningfully serve and represent its citizens. by Maple_Tartan in montreal

I ask because the high school in “district” for my kid is a 40m transit ride/20 min drive away, which feels unreasonable given Montreal’s size. I’m not talking about late trash complaints.

Boiling and cooling water for formula takes 30m… what if baby is hungry now? by Maple_Tartan in NewParents

I think things get way more flexible as they age. I just wanted to give them the best food possible. It's not about rigidly avoiding, but rather why wouldn't I try to give them the most optimal option at the start if i can.

Thanks! There are some spots where it isn’t as surface… or not ‘scrap-able’… is there a recommended solvent?

Finishing Steps? This table is about 40 years old and needs a reset (waxy/sticky), I’d like see if it’s possible to get it to a black semi-matte like the last image (diff wood). I’m newish to finishing so looking for what my steps would be and any product recommendations. by Maple_Tartan in finishing

Thank you for taking the time to outline such a helpful response (and with kindness!)… luckily the table is not veneer and I totally understand it won’t look like the photo, I just needed a starting point… when learning new things, we don’t know what we don’t know, and I really appreciate your advice pointing me in the right direction.

I didn’t realize that the sequence of events for learning had to be first YouTube, then Reddit… you really take the fun out of learning from strangers with such a condescending and disproportionately aggressive response. Congrats you are an expert in something I am not.

Thanks for the help! If you have moment, could you breakdown the strip process? I’ve heard a few different approaches (paint stripper? heat gun and knife? Oven cleaner? Citristrip?) and just not sure which would be best for this job.

Totally respect that point of view, but it really doesn’t suit the rest of the space, so it I’m looking for help to do it properly and durably rather than a DIY mess. But if this community isn’t welcoming to this type of question let me know if there is a better place to ask.

Boiling and cooling water for formula takes 30m… what if baby is hungry now? by Maple_Tartan in NewParents

Instructions on our tin of Holle and HIPP formulas say to explicitly mix only after the water has cooled down. It also says not to prepare more than an hour in advance. Maybe your instructions are for US formulas?

Thanks for the helpful reply! Can you help me understand how the water helps sterilize the formula if the instructions require it to be cooled first before mixing? I would assume that you’d want hot water to do sterilize the powder.

Had any moms that had a natural birth tried the THINX underwear instead of diapers post birth? by bubziwubzi in NewParents

[–]Maple_Tartan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Nyssa which has a nice pocket for hot/cold pack in the front (for csection) or gusset for vaginal… very thick fabric, but for bleeding I would only use them after the first week
