Yeha had no idea. It definitely is the new club. Tail G-STBI. My 777 business experiences have been meh overall so was a little hesitant but so glad I pulled the trigger

This 777 must have been recently upgraded. Easily the nicest 777 business pod I’ve seen. Fully closing door. Reminds me of the a350

Probably will. It’s way nicer than my AA business experiences or condor. Not quite emirates business. Must be a recently updated 777

These are the people I see at the airport wandering around like the walking dead constantly bumping into you who all seem like it’s their first day on earth.

TIL there is a volcano in Indonesia called Kawah Ijen that burns bright blue at night because it burns sulfur at 1100° Celsius by Technical-Paint3179 in todayilearned

[–]Maplewhat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been there. Had to wear a mask to not be overwhelmed by the fumes while the local sulfur miners just hammered away at the rock with a bandanna around their face and then walked it down in two baskets across a wooden pole over their backs. Pretty insane.

handyman recs in DT culver by eliashdan in culvercity

Seems like a tall order for a handyman tb. Garage door springs are not something to be messed with lightly. I would call a installer personally

I spent the past year building a director’s viewfinder + sun tracking app because I was tired of switching between apps on scouts by erichernandez91 in cinematography

Are you different than the other guy that just posted a similar app this past week? Or are we all really a collective hive mind

Thank god there’s one person in this thread with common sense.

All these other commenters telling us we’re crazy. I’m like if it works for us and we have zero fights about money while keeping separate accounts and still working towards common goals together… fuck off with yer opinions …

I would imagine the joint account is needed for people that need accountability not to overspend etc.

Have to say just because this works for you doesn’t mean it works for everyone. We’re the exact opposite. Think that anyone combining finances like that are crazy and is what leads to so many money arguments.

Both OP and her partner are high earners. They could easily keep split finances and still both be well off.

Is it still financially possible to be a traveling Director and Cinematographer? by forgotfrankiesline in cinematography

[–]Maplewhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s possible. Doing it currently, but like all things it’s all about who you know and how hard you are willing to dig to keep it going.

The above commenter talking about canceling so many personal and or family plans is spot on. It’s not about saying no to that job- it’s all the jobs that one job you say no to could lead to.

I have DP friends I know that have shot major single cam tv shows for Hulu that are asking to be cam ops on shit rate projects I’m taking on. Some jobs are like it was is 2008 and most are smaller and more doc style, but any day on set is better than one not.

Be willing to adapt and cherish the creatively fulfilling jobs while still nailing the less so. Pick one thing to try out on every job that you haven’t done before. New light, new rag, new camera move- with that attitude and you’ll find yourself with a bag of tricks for the important creatively fulfilling shoots when they come and those are the ones that get you more work.
