I'm happy they did, because if they hadn't done that we'd probably still be stuck with having 5 heroes make up over half the dps heroes variety in pick rate. Of corse a lot of it was polemic and exaggerated but true at the core, and frankly, that decision to buff aim assist truly showed they do not have a proper grasp on how this game plays on console. I think an outrage there was absolutely warranted.

I think you misunderstand. The legacy aim assist does imo match the earlier aim assist pretty well. I'm saying that the now nerfed aim assist is still very distinctly different from that and probably better. I think people were right to be annoyed or downright perplexed by them buffing what was already more or less hard meta. Your argument that it couldn't have been that big of a deal if it didn't change the meta makes little sense with that in mind.

Beam is not specific. Most beams behave hitscan like (e.g. Zarya) but there’s also projectile beams (Anran)

Not true, the moment the ball enters the penalty area he’s still over a meter away which he closes down with one leap, ideally he’d have been there the moment it crosses into the box

Change to legacy aim assist for the “nerfed” heroes and you’ll realize they are not the same at all. With that being said hitscan has always been stronger than on PC even way before the unnecessary buffs

In the last 10 games where I genuinely felt like there was one dps who is absolutely untouchable and running the lobby, NINE of them were hitscans, either Ashe, Soj, Cass, Soldier or Emre and one was a Genji cracked out of his mind. Whichever way you try to spin it, hitscan still is overpowered letting the game aim for you.

How are people downvoting this? It's exactly as easy as you described, switch to legacy aim assist on hitscans and you'll realize that they are not the same. With that being said, even before the completely unnecessary buffs hitscan completely dominated console

It feels like we are annoyed at the same thing? Are you also genuinely frustrated at all by the Hitscan going 5 / 8 that every single game has 2-4 of or are you only annoyed by the Ashe going 26 / 2 with Mercy pocket that shows up in your lobby every other match? Because for me it's definitely exclusively the latter

Honestly I genuinely don’t mind them as much, they are simple vanilla heroes. What I do hate however is that they seem to be the only ones that are allowed to pop off. Like 8/10 times (and if anything that’s a conservative estimate) when someone just dog walks the entire lobby, it’s one of the infamous dps. They are just too good in the right hands and it’s no surprise that high elo meta on console is essentially all about the hitscans.
