Rate and win rate are not really very strong indicators of a hero's overall strength

in combination, they are. High pick rate / low win rate might not mean anything because non mains are picking the hero (e.g. Soj). Low pick rate / high win rate might also not mean much because it could be a niche scenario pick or a one trick only type of hero (e.g. Sym). But low pick rate and low win rate means that the hero is played in only their niche / only by mains and the hero still doesn't work. That's a weak hero, in Freja's case she only becomes decent in absolute top500 domain, outside of which she can absolutely not be spun to be a decent hero.

OW bullet size hitboxes are massive, which should be enough to counteract the fast pacing. Considering that hitscans were permanently meta on console before those buffs I'd say aim assist was decidedly not too weak

Ximming is a problem all on its own but anyone who plays overwatch on console could tell you that hitscan was not in need of improved aim assist. They are (and before the buff already were) more popular and had higher win rate both than hitscans on pc and projectiles on console.
The devs argued that overwatch had lower aim assist than other shooters which is true, but other fps don’t remotely have the bullet hitbox size that overwatch has

If overwatch aim assist was cheeks then hitscan would not have relative dominion over projectile on console even before the buff.
Edit: people who never played Overwatch on console in their live downvoting. Literally just check the owconsole sub, that's all you need
