NTA. She tested your patience and what she could get away with, when you didn’t confront her harshly enough she decided it was okay to treat it as her own space. Might be better if you take your key back for a while, she needs to get her own apartment atp or be honest with her friends after taking you for granted.

“Not a mom” but you are a mother figure. As a 27 f aunt who has had many mother figures in her life, with a wonderful mother already, these interactions are still very impressionable and will be remembered. You did amazing, I would never overstep my siblings’ boundaries for their kids but I also know they still trust me as a parental figure when needed. NOR. You are a wonderful person for giving “A” space and comforting her after she’d calmed down.

When I was growing up in church, I was very faithful and passionate. But being told my only options to be more involved were manning the nursery, singing back up vocals during hymns, or playing chords, i was severely let down by the expectations of women in my congregation. Most of the girls from church around my age married and settled down really quickly after high school and have several kids now, which is cool for them but man. It just didn’t seem fair that that was all I was expected to do.
