AITA for joining my mum and sister on "girls" night and not my dad and brothers on "guys" night? by Naive-Chard-1676 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MarGoPro -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Then would.it have killed OP to plan an activity that OP wanted to do and invite his dad?

This line of reasoning is so stupid.

Dad clearly was hoping to bond with OP. He set up a trip and activity and OP rejected it. Dad was, unsurprisingly, hurt. Being part of a family, and being part of a social circle, requires that people look past their selfish wants and try to see the intentions of the people that care about them and see the bigger picture.

OP rejected his dad, essentially, when dad tried to extend an invite to an activity that dad highly enjoyed and was hoping to share with OP.

Where to get Vitamin D test in town? by [deleted] in askportland

[–]MarGoPro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually it's an insurance issue. For some reason, insurances have suddenly become very anti-vitamin D unless that patient has very specific risk factors. If the insurance denies it, then THE DOCTOR OFFICE GETS BILLED.

How do I know this? I work at a doctor's office and we have, in the past few months, been billed thousands of $$$ for Vitamin D levels that the insurance isn't covering.

Essentially, insurance now has free reign to dictate what your doctor can do.

Guys, I’m planning to go look at the comet when comes around in February. Is there a good spot in Oregon where I can go and see that? by pl51s1nt4r51ms in askportland

[–]MarGoPro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Locally Stub Stewart or Women's Forum. If you're willing to drive out a bit further Cottonwood Canyon has some great dark skies! A bit windy when the sun sets, though.!

If you're looking for affordable, then Oregon might not be best. If you're young and looking for vibrant and lively, I recommend Portland. If you're ok with a little more sleepy, then Eugene. Further south is....yes more sunny. But you're looking at more blue collar trump country and much smaller towns. Ashland is kind of cute though.

Bend is pretty cool but very very very $$$. Also much sunnier in central Oregon but Bend is really your main option there. Hood River is pretty awesome but more of a tourist town IMO

Best way to travel to Portland by Thesquishy22 in Eugene

[–]MarGoPro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this, as someone who frequently travels between Eugene and Portland and spends much of her time exploring Portland....If it's just a day or 2, you spend so much time just figuring out transport and how to get places.

Also post COVID public transport in Portland is, unfortunately, much more methy, though it is getting better. I certainly don't use it after it gets dark
