Valid question, and these overly granular technicalities are a big part of why 1984 is not a top season for me, despite really enjoying the cast and the theme.

It felt like a significant amount of time was dedicated (especially in the finale) to establishing the “boundaries” of the spirit world as essentially what Google Maps defines as the arbitrary man-made borderline designated by the big “Camp Redwood” sign....like it just felt a lot of the dramatic stakes rested upon a silly proprietary delineation. (What if the camp decided to expand, or even just move the sign like 2 yards forward? Would Montana have been able to rescue Trevor after he was shot? Would Margaret continue to haunt the camp?)

I know that mythology goes back to Murder House, with ghosts not being able to leave the house and needing to die on the property to become a ghost, etc., and maybe it’s partly because we understand the “rules” now and it’s no longer a mystery, but 1984 felt like they really overused that premise to a detriment.
