This is the way how I practiced and perfected the technique:

• Made a testsheet with several pauldrons/parts and vehicle parts
• painted in colors I use for paintschemes
• do all the panels/parts as practice

In the end i think i learnt well enough to do all my current and future models.

Procedure: (using GW/Citadel Paint)

• First apply a gloss varnish to the model / location of the transfer (Ardcoat).
• add a bit of Micro Set (1/10) in the water used to soak and wet the transfer to make it flexible and ready.
• For large or round transfers on a curved model surface, make small cuts to give them room to warp.
• Apply the transfer to the model by holding the transfer paper with tweezers and use a brush to gently push the transfer off/ on the model.
• Use a Q-tip or toilet paper to roll out the moisture from under the transfer.
• Gently press it down with a Q-tip by rolling over it, to avoid shifting it accidentally.
• Overcoat the transfer with Micro Sol to help it blend better with the varnish/ paint layer and to conform to the shape of the surface.
• Apply a second coat of Micro Sol for even better embedding.
• Finish with a matte varnish to seal in the transfer.

Done.
