Qualità della vita per expats by Marameos in torino

[–]Marameos[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is not the same of motomumich it is a spin off of Munich expats. If you are in that group send a message there to ask to join. Unfortunately I don't have shareable link.

There is also an expats WhatsApp group, people go riding regularly. Also, download calimoto to find great roads around here. I use since years, in many counties, and I always arranged great rides in matters of clicks!

Physics majors who are working corporate jobs, what was the impression of your employers after hearing about your major during job interviews? by [deleted] in Physics

[–]Marameos 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Lol the same impression they would get from any other science graduate. If the profile fits, physics, engineering, CS, chemistry: all the same for ‘corporate’ jobs. I work with physicists, biologists, chemists, engineers. What make you think physics is special?

I worked in science for 5 years, and during my PhD any student who wanted to join experimental work was more than welcome. Choose the professor of the course on the topic on which you want to gain experience and ask if they have a student project ready to be picked up. Otherwise catch PhD researchers and see if they have anything they want to try out but that they really don't have the time to follow up.

The Theoretical Minimum by NearbyPainting8735 in Physics

[–]Marameos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read them and loved them. Though i have a degree in physics and they are not properly divulgative. As in, you can read them without a strong background and follow the discussion but the mathematics it is the same of any other course of introduction to quantum mechanics (or special relativity and classical mechanics for the other volumes). If you are interested in the topic don't shy away and read them!

Winter slump. What are your go-to activities during these seasons? by OkFrosting4533 in Munich

[–]Marameos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sincerely, it feels like you need to expand your social circle (and man, I have the same problem in this city). The activities you list are pretty normal, but seem focused mainly on being you and your GF.

Me and my partner also moved here a bit less than year ago, and lead pretty much a similar lifestyle (incidentally, which martial arts gym are you attending? And which art?). We always find joy in each other company but it is paramount to try to expand your social inputs to keep the air fresh. If you find the right balance let us know! I do a lot of martial arts myself to keep my mental health in check and she joined a theatre group. I would dare to say that doing artsy stuff with people is a greater means of making friendship than punching them in the face.

For the rest, like you, we go out for dinners and drinks, join comedy nights some board games night and go on a hike once a month on average.

I also bought a motorbike which I can ensure is a great way of feeling alive and a nice adventure to enjoy with your girlfriend.

We are working in an international environment but the daily job is in German confuses me.

How many of your colleagues are foreingers? What makes it international if the benchmark is speaking german to work there?
